Chi Krneta shared her incredible story with the world to inspire and instigate the craftiness in all of us. Krneta had to take a 50 minute long bus ride to work every day. She could have chosen to play a game, listen to songs, or just aimlessly browse her phone in this time. Instead, she decided to make some good use of these 50 minutes of her life.
Her wedding was just five months away when Krneta decided to crochet her own wedding dress. Not only was this going to save her a lot of money, it was also a way of honoring her paternal grandmother who had taught her the necessary skills and technique. Most brides end up spending hundreds or thousands just to buy their desired dress. But for this talented bride, all the materials, including the lining, cost her just $30. After five months and 50 minutes a day, Krneta was able to create a truly stunning and one of a kind look for her wedding.
In an interview with Seattle Magazine, Krneta explained, “I think the most important thing to remember if you’re going to have a wedding is that there is no right way or wrong way to do it. Your wedding should be about you, your partner, your family and friends. I would certainly pass the dress onto my future children if they wanted it.”
“I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus during my work commute for about 5 months. The dress is a pattern I designed with a commonly used pineapple stitch.” – Continue to next page and watch the video
