12 Awkward Moments that happen in every New Relationship

5. The Meeting of the Friends

This might not be as awkward as meeting your boyfriend’s parents, but it still makes for a very awkward situation if you don’t handle it well. Like the previous example, you want to be liked and you want them to approve of you, but you don’t want to compromise who you are in the process. But don’t worry, your boyfriend is there for you to help you get through the initial awkwardness.

6. Becoming Facebook Official

In a modern world so heavily dominated by social media, becoming official on Facebook can be a big deal. It’s sending a message of fidelity, of love, and of commitment. So how do you go about it? Who’s going to make the first move to becoming Facebook official? Oh how awkward the lead-up process is.

7. Forgetting Important Details

Imagine how awkward it would be if you forgot important details about each other at important moments. It’s perfectly understandable though; the human brain can only accumulate so much knowledge in a short period of time. You can’t be expected to know what his favorite movie is, her favorite color, the date of his dog’s birthday, and everything else under the sun.

8. The First Gift Exchange

Be it birthdays or holidays, the first gift exchange can be incredibly nerve-wracking. Should you be buying something expensive? Should it be something sentimental? How will she react when she gets it? Will he think I’m becoming too attached to soon by giving him this gift? The key to getting over this awkwardness is to just not.

  1. I don’t understand what you mean in the exchange of gifts. You said’the best way of getting beyond the awkardness is just to not.
Just to not what? Not exchange or give a gift or just to not be awkward?

  2. None of these things are awkward with the right person. Everything should just flow naturally. It might feel “odd” that it’s so easy, yet that’s exactly what it should be- easy. Even the conflicts, discussions, and the disagreements are easy, and no ego is involved.
