Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are taking a break from their romance.
The former One Direction singer and the Rush actress have hit the brakes after dating for nearly two years.
According to PEOPLE, a few sources revealed that the decision had been taken after much thinking and mutual understanding.
“He’s still touring and is now going abroad. She is focusing on her kids and her work in L.A.,” as per one source. “It’s a very amicable decision.”
The same source also insisted that “they are still close very close friends.” Meanwhile, a second source confirmed, “Right now they have different priorities that are keeping them apart.”
The news came after their PDA-filled date night in late September; the couple was seen packing on the PDA in NYC.
“The couple passionately kissed and embraced each other in the streets of Manhattan; The pop superstar, 28, and the actress, 38, chose casual attire for their outing. Styles sported a white shirt, baggy blue jeans, and a cream jacket, while Wilde wore loose denim, a white top, and a black hoodie.”
According to E!, “Their PDA-filled night out comes one day after Harry closed out his monthlong ‘Love on Tour’ residency at the famed NYC venue.”
“During the final MSG show, the venue honored the former One Direction singer by bringing out host Gayle King to unveil a massive banner that was hanging in the rafters, which read, “HARRY STYLES 15 Consecutive Nights at the Garden.”
“Olivia made sure to be there to show her support for her Don’t Worry Darling co-star.”
During their relationship, the couple also had to live through some drama surrounding the release of their film, Don’t Worry Darling, and a few reports suggest their split occurred due to the same reason – an alleged feud between Wilde and film’s lead actress, Florence Pugh.
“Rumors began circulating in July that the “Little Women” star, 26, had a falling out with director Wilde, 38, when she failed to promote the psychological thriller in any real way both publicly and on social media.” – Page Six.
The couple first met in September 2020, on the set of their movie, Don’t Worry Darling, directed by Wilde, and developed a strong affection for each other.
In January 2021, they were spotted holding hands while attending Harry’s manager’s wedding.
“What started out as a close friendship, quickly turned romantic,” PEOPLE magazine reported at that time. “Everyone saw it coming. During breaks, he hasn’t been able to stay away and visited her trailer.”
In February 2021, a source told the publication that the duo had fantastic chemistry on their movie set and would spend all their time together.
“She is also very happy with Harry. It was only a matter of time before they got together.”
Their relationship began only two months after Olivia announced her split from her longtime fiancé Jason Sudeikis. The former couple shares two children – son Otis and daughter Daisy.
In December 2020, Olivia spoke to Vogue magazine and stated that she praised Harry for being ‘devoid of toxic masculinity.’
“To me, he’s very modern, and I hope that this brand of confidence as a male that Harry has — truly devoid of any traces of toxic masculinity — is indicative of his generation and therefore the future of the world.”
“I think he is in many ways championing that, spearheading that. It’s pretty powerful and kind of extraordinary to see someone in his position redefining what it can mean to be a man with confidence.”
In September 2021, the couple was seen dancing together at Harry’s concert in Las Vegas.
“She was so happy and dancing all night! It was very cute. She was singing along to almost every song and having a good time with the people she was with,” E! reported.
In December 2021, The Girl Next Door actress told Vogue that she has been ‘very happy’ in her relationship with Styles.
