Jamie Foxx’s family and friends are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst as the actor remains hospitalized for over three weeks.
According to reports, the Baby Driver was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, April 18, after a medical emergency, the details of which have not been disclosed. However, the family of the Django Unchained star has confirmed that he is now making a recovery and has received great care.
In a statement on Instagram, Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, expressed gratitude for the support and well-wishes from fans. She wrote, “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.”
Last week, the multitalented singer and comedian’s health was said to have improved, and a source told PEOPLE that his condition is not life-threatening.
“Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now,” the insider said, adding that the doctors are still running different medical tests on him and want to ensure his complete recovery.
The 55-year-old Oscar-winner also took to his Instagram last Wednesday and thanked his fans and friends for sending so much love amid his recovery.
“Appreciate all the love!!!” the comedian wrote on his Instagram. “Feeling blessed.”
The post received hundreds of comments from his well-wishers, including his celebrity friends who have been sending their love and prayers for Jamie’s speedy recovery.
“I’m sending love to you every single day,” Ellen DeGeneres commented.
“Sending you strength and love,” wrote Jeremy Renner, who himself suffered a deadly snowplow accident at the beginning of this year and still receovering from his injuries.
“You are the greatest Jamie, please make a speedy recovery. You are a blessing to this world, we need you in it,” Ansel Elgort commented.
Courteney Cox and Vin Diesel made praying hands emojis in the comments, and fans expressed their relief after knowing he was doing well.
“Man I got happy when i seen him in my timeline like this my uncle or something lol. Love my guy!!” one said.
“Thank God u’re ok I love you Jamie I pray you continue to heal In The Mighty Name of Jesus God’s Finest Creation,” wrote another.
“We were just talking about you today, Jamie. Thank you for updating, and Thank The Lord! I’ve definitely been praying for you!” a third fan added.
Foxx also gave a shout-out to his comedian friend, Nick Cannon, for filling in on his hosting duties on the Fox show Beat Shazam and wrote on his story, “Appreciate ya my boy @nickcannon see u all soon.”
However, another source claimed that although Jamie’s condition is stable and he is doing better now, doctors are still trying to get to the bottom of his situation. He wouldn’t still be admitted to the hospital if he was ‘completely OK.’
“Jamie’s people are saying he’s doing OK and improving, while doctors try to get to the bottom of his problems — but he wouldn’t be in a hospital this long if he was anything close to OK,” the source told Radar.
According to the outlet, a source previously said that Foxx’s condition was so critical that he wouldn’t have survived if he didn’t receive proper medical treatment on time.
“It was touch and go for days with him, and he had to be revived. He is very lucky to be alive!” the source said, adding the star was saved by the emergency room physicians.
“He’s very lucky he got the treatment he did,” the source added. Another source said the hard-working Jamie suffers from high blood pressure, which experts said can cause clots in the brain and lead to a stroke. One source said the actor’s health crisis was “a long time coming.”
