After five months of romance, the Material Girl singer splits from her much younger boyfriend, Andrew Darnell.
It has been reported that Madonna is going through a ‘crisis of confidence’ following their breakup due to her failed relationship and ageist comments about her ‘unrecognizable look’ at the Grammys earlier this month.
According to Page Six, a source revealed that Madonna’s model lover has found someone of her age group, and he is dating her now.
“It was only a very casual thing [with Darnell] so she’s not broken-hearted. It’s just that it has come at a bad time,” the source said. “She’s having a bit of a crisis of confidence and this doesn’t help. She had a lot of fun with Andrew but it was never love or anything like that.”
The couple started dating last year after meeting at a photo shoot soon after Madonna ended her three-year-long relationship with former boyfriend, Ahlamalik Williams, 28.
As reported by Page Six, “On Sept. 4, Madonna was photographed canoodling with the 23-year-old IMG model and actor, who played Sylvester on the HBOMax series “Betty.”
“After taking in the Nigerian musician REMA at Irving Plaza, the two hit Mr. French — and French-kissed between bites of truffle fries. It was not their first lip lock, either. For a Paper magazine cover shoot that debuted last month, the singer touched tongues with Darnell and licked his nipples. After posting outtakes from the shoot to Instagram, she cheekily wrote, “All in good taste.”
Apart from her split from Darnell, Madonna’s self-confidence is said to have been shaken due to her fans’ ageist and misogynistic remarks after her recent appearance at the Grammys.
On February 5, 2023, Madonna stunned fans with her unrecognizable looks at the 65th Annual Grammy Award Ceremony.
The Queen of Pop took the stage as a presenter to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras for their “Unholy” appearance.
However, the audience was stunned to see Madonna’s stylish, youthful looks and flawless skin – she wore a fitted, tailored black jacket with a matching black skirt.
“The True Blue hitmaker surprised the crowd with her jaw-dropping wrinkle-free look while introducing Sam Smith and Kim Petras as they prepared to sing their hit track, Unholy, which won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance during the ceremony,” Daily Mail wrote.
The seven times Grammy award winner shook fans with her smooth and sculpted cheeks and plumped lips.
Her hair was styled in stylish braids tied at the back with two plaits at the front.
The mom-of-six held a riding crop in one hand as she addressed the audience on stage while shining in the bright spotlight.
Many people took to Twitter and posted comments about Madonna’s unrecognizable face and overall looks at the event.
After receiving baffling criticism and offensive comments from her fans, Madonna clapped back at people and said the world is threatened by her intelligence and power.
“The world is threatened by my power and my stamina. My intelligence and my will to survive. But they will never break me this is all the test,” she wrote on Twitter.
She also posted a video on her Instagram and ripped into people who criticized how she looked at the ceremony.
“It was an honor for me to Introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I wanted to give the last award which was Album of the year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans- woman performing at the Grammys— a History making moment!! And on top of that she won a Grammy!!” She wrote alongside her video on Instagram featuring Sam Smith, Cardi B, Ab-Soul, Jozzy, and Honey Dijon.
“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!”
The pop icon continued, “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in.“
“A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
She added that she has never apologized for any of her creative choices including the way she looked or dressed up and she would never do that.
“I’m not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”
In the words of Beyonce “You-won’t break my soul” she concluded.
