Madonna, 64, ‘Ignored Signs of Illness’ to Continue World Tour Rehearsals

The pop queen reportedly ignored the signs of her illness to continue rehearsals for her ‘much anticipated’ world tour.

On Saturday, Madonna, 64, reportedly had to be urgently transported to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and required intubation after being discovered unresponsive. This distressing incident has compelled the renowned star to postpone her 40th-anniversary tour. The reason behind these alarming circumstances was a severe bacterial infection, necessitating her hospitalization.

The Vogue hitmaker experienced a distressing incident in New York that led to her being urgently taken to the hospital and subsequently intubated after being found unresponsive. The star’s manager, Guy O’Seary, took to Instagram to share the news with the world. He disclosed that Madonna was grappling with a serious bacterial infection, necessitating her stay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for several days.

Due to her medical struggles, the 64-year-old pop star has regrettably been compelled to postpone her highly-anticipated 40th-anniversary tour. O’Seary reassured fans in his post that Madonna is expected to recover fully and that her health is improving. However, he emphasized that she is still under medical care and receiving necessary treatment.

Now a source tells PEOPLE that the Queen of Pop was ignoring all the symptoms of her illness in order to focus on her work.

“She ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away. But she didn’t want to take time away from rehearsals,” a music source told PEOPLE.

“She was rundown and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans and to do what others before her have not done.”

Another insider claims that Madonna has been so focused on her work and has been pushing herself ‘beyond the limit.’

“Madonna has been very busy for a long time and not taking care of herself. She just continues to push herself beyond the limit,” the insider said.

According to Page Six, Madonna, who had plans to commence her 84-date Celebration tour in Vancouver, Canada on July 15, was discovered on Saturday and subsequently taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she was intubated overnight.

The publication also reported that Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, stood by her side during her hospitalization.

Although O’Seary did not provide specific details about Madonna’s treatment or the circumstances of her hospitalization, he confirmed that she was admitted to the ICU on Saturday due to a bacterial infection.

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU,” he wrote on Wednesday afternoon.

While her health is improving, Madonna is still under medical care, and a full recovery is expected.

O’Seary also announced that the start of Madonna’s highly anticipated tour, for which she had been rehearsing for months and was scheduled to begin in a few weeks, will be postponed. He stated, “At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.”

He did not disclose the new start date for the tour or provide specific details about rescheduled shows but promised to share more information as soon as it becomes available.

A source confirmed to DailyMail.com that Madonna is now out of the ICU and recovering.
