Olivia Newton-John is an incredibly talented actor, singer, songwriter, and performer who has won multiple Grammy Awards. She’s most widely known for playing her iconic role as Sandy in Grease alongside John Travolta.
Apart from being excellent at her craft, she is also a super-inspirational human being who has been battling cancer head-on throughout her life and career.
Olivia Newton-John, A Fighter Through & Through
In 1992, Olivia received her first diagnosis of a life-threatening illness in the form of breast cancer. After going through that first task, which would be challenging for most of us, she got her second diagnosis in 2013.
This time, it was on her shoulder. But, being the fighter and incredible human being she is, she faced it all with a smile on her face.
Now, at the age of 73, she has been diagnosed with cancer again. But she’s still fighting it like a true champion! Not letting any of this get her hopes or spirits down, she is thankful for having this life and lives it to the fullest every day!
During an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, she spoke about not wanting to know how much longer she had to live. Olivia said:
“When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary honest diagnosis, you’re suddenly given a possibility of a time limit,”
“If somebody tells you, you have six months to live, very possibly you will because you believe that. So for me, psychologically, it’s better not to have any idea of what they expect, or what the last person that has what you have lived, so I don’t tune in.”
Seeing The Positive Side of Everything
While speaking to CNN, Olivia talked about how she hasn’t let any of this bring her down:
“I’m so lucky that I’ve been through this three times and I’m still here. I’m living with it. Every day is a gift now, particularly now,”
In another interview with Forbes, she continued on how to manifest happiness and positivity in your life:
“I believe you create your life by what you think. So you need to think in a positive way to create that in you, in your body and your life. We all have our negative moments and our sad moments, but you have to keep that thread of belief that you’re going to be okay. None of us really know what time we have on this planet. It’s all a mystery and a gift. Just be grateful every day.”
