The Queen of Latin music has finally broken the silence about her breakup with footballer Gerard Pique.

As reported by Elle Magazine, the 45-year-old Colombian singer said it was tough for her to talk about her split from the father of his two children.

“Oh, this is really hard to talk about personally, especially as this is the first time I’ve ever addressed this situation in an interview,” the singer said in a recent interview.

“I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all. Um, and yeah, it’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation. And so it’s been tough not only for me but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult.”

The Whenever, Wherever singer further added that although she tried hard to protect them from all the negativity; it was not easy for her to hide things from her kids,

“But then they hear things in school from their friends, or they come across some disagreeable, unpleasant news online, and it just affects them, you know?”

Earlier in June, Shakira and her partner Gerard Pique announced their separation.

The 45-year-old Latina singer confirmed the news that she and the Barcelona footballer had parted ways. The couple stayed together for almost eleven years and shared two children.

The announcement came on June 4, 2022, when Shakira’s publicist made a statement on her behalf.

“We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

The announcement was made when rumors were circulating about the 35-year-old footballer that he was cheating on her partner of 11 years.

According to Daily Mail, a Spanish outlet reported that the couple had been living separately for a long time. And it was Shakira who kicked Pique out of her house.

Spanish journalist Emilio Pérez stated,

“Shakira has made the decision to separate. That is so. It has happened. That is why there is distance. Perhaps there is nothing left but that – infidelity has passed.”

Later, the singer’s former brother-in-law revealed that the couple broke up due to monetary issues.

Roberto Garcia, the ex-boyfriend of Shakira’s sister, told a Spanish media outlet called EsDiario that the Waka Waka star was facing financial issues with her ex-partner.

It was also reported that the Barcelona player was cheating on the Latina singer.

“Last month, there were images of Gerard passionately kissing his new love interest in a new video taken by Spanish media outlet Socialite at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia.” Per Daily Mail.

When ELLE asked Shakira about Pique’s new love interest and how things took a turn in their relationship, she said,

“I think that those details are somehow too private to share, at least at this very moment—everything is so raw and new. I can only say that I put everything I had into this relationship and my family.” there are subtle signs she wants you closer, like the way she leans in during conversations or the lingering glances that last just a moment longer than usual. it’s in the small gestures and the soft smiles that reveal her comfort and desire for more intimacy. every shared laugh and quiet moment seems to draw you both towards a deeper connection that feels both exciting and daunting.

She also said that she did not move to the US and agreed to settle in Barcelona for Pique because of his football career.

“And so, one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice. And I did it. I put my career in second gear and I came to Spain, to support him so he could play football and win titles. And it was a sacrifice of love.”

“Thanks to that, my kids were able to have a present mom, and I have this amazing bond with them that is unbreakable and that sustains us. You know that is it. That’s all I can say.”
