Women are emotional rollercoasters, that’s a fact. And no, I am not talking about that special time of the month when we go bipolar for a week or so. I’m talking about us losing our cool when we see a cute little baby animal, or read a love story that melts our heart, or a movie that ends with us being surrounded by a mountain of tissue papers and eyes swollen from all the crying.
Women have the tendency to let go of the built up emotions, and the best outlet to get the emotions out besides talking to our girlfriends, is crying. Yes. Crying. Sometimes, we women need to let out a good cry to calm our nerves and unwind. Granted, it is not always going to be the best reason to cry but that’s how we function. We can cry at anything; from not being able to parallel park our cars, to having no Nutella left in the jar when we get that sudden craving, to not having that dress we saw and fell in love with, available in our size, to the ending of a movie when everything works out and they live happily ever after (we don’t need a reason to cry!)
Men on the other hand, are creatures from another planet altogether. They neither know how to express their emotions, nor know how to deal in situations where a female is emotional. It is a common belief that women are guided by their emotions rather than rational thinking. Compared to men, women are said to let their emotions flow, resulting in them being more emotional than logical and therefore, acting irrationally. That’s why women are labeled drama queens’.
One emotionally inept husband made a list in which he mentioned some of the things that made his wife cry, mentioning reasons for her meltdowns.
He wrote,
My wife cries at absolutely anything. I mean, ANYTHING. So I started writing the reasons down because, reasons.
The poor man is baffled at her shedding tears at things that result in very little or no emotional response from him.
Though I like the idea of keeping tabs on when your lady friend cries, this way you both can have a good laugh reading them together sometime later. Some of the reasons mentioned on the list are hilarious, but most of us females can actually relate to these situations, as most of us react in the exact same way, driving the men in our lives, bonkers. I know I cried buckets when my kitten licked my nose affectionately for the first time (it was so cute!)
As George Carlin put it very aptly:
