Today’s story is exceptionally heartbreaking and emotional – it is the essence of true love and devotion. This 2017 story comes from Montgomery, Indiana, USA.
Jessica Padgett & Kendall James Murphy were in love; they had a beautiful relationship and planned a wedding date to celebrate a future together. The couple got engaged on September 29th and planned their wedding.
Kendall James Murphy was a firefighter. In November of 2017, while responding to a rescue call – Murphy and his colleague, Blake, rushed to the scene in their own cars.
As Murphy got out of his car to put on his gear, he was hit by Blake’s car, who was apparently driving under the influence and crashed into three vehicles. Murphy passed away on the spot. Blake, upon inspection, was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .21 percent – he received a few injuries while his friend couldn’t survive.
A distraught and devastated Jessica Padgett, who had so much planned for her special day, still decided to wear her wedding gown and visit her husband’s grave on the day of their planned wedding.
The whole family was there to support this powerful woman who donned her wedding dress to visit her late fiance – celebrating a departed wedding. Incredible photos of the event were captured by Loving Life Photography – they show how emotionally enduring it was for the bride-to-be.
As the beautiful bride said goodbye to her groom-to-be, she didn’t let anything get in the way. There were bridesmaids, speeches, and beautiful sky-lanterns to bid farewell to the dearly departed Murphy. You can view the full album here.
The photographer wrote about Jessica on Facebook:
“She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.”
After his death, Murphy was honored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. In an emotional post on Facebook, Jessica spoke about how it felt to be a part of it all:
“What a emotional, amazing weekend this was! This foundation not only honored my Kendall, but also took us in as family. This wasn’t what we wanted in the end, but at least we know we will never be alone, we have all become one big supporting family ! 🚒You will forever be in our hearts #616 @ National Fallen Firefighters Foundation”
In our 12 years of writing about relationships and life, we’ve never come across such an incredible and strong woman – we wish Jessica a happy life ahead; you deserve the world!
