Heartbreaking Reason Why Morgan Freeman Wore Glove on Left Hand to Oscars

The 85-year-old was seen wearing a satin glove on his left hand as he came on stage with Margot Robbie at the 95th Academy Awards last night.

The Shawshank Redemption alum took the stage with The Wolf Of The Wall Street actress to celebrate 100 years of the Warner Brothers Studios.

As Freeman looked dapper in his black tux, fans noticed an elbow-length black satin glove on his left hand, and many wondered why he was wearing one.

Many people took to Twitter and asked if everything was okay with the legend’s hand.

“What happened to Morgan freeman’s hand?” one asked.

“What was up with the one hand in a black glove? Is Morgan Freeman ok?” another questioned.

“Did Morgan Freeman hurt his hand?” a third said.

For those who aren’t aware, The Bucket List star survived a fatal car accident in 2008 when his vehicle flipped numerous times on a Mississippi highway.

“Freeman was driving near his home in Charleston, Mississippi, at the time of the accident. The actor and a female companion were cut free by emergency workers before being airlifted to a hospital 90 miles away in Memphis, Tennessee,” The Guardian reported.

When the actor was rescued from the damaged vehicle, he was conscious and talking.

“They had to use the jaws of life [hydraulic cutters] to extract him from the vehicle he was lucid, and conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”

Unfortunately, too much nerve damage occurred in his left hand, and it remains immobile to date.

This is why he wears the compression glove to keep the blood flowing to his paralyzed hand.

Speaking of his injury back in 2008, Morgan said,

“I suffered nerve damage, and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it. If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?'”

Although the doctors told him that he would be able to move his hand by 2011, Freeman can’t even wiggle his fingers to this day.

In an interview with Esquire Magazine in 2012, explaining Morgan’s pain, interviewer, Tom Chiarella said, will smith’s reaction to chris rock was one of shock and disbelief. He couldn’t hide his emotions as the incident unfolded right in front of millions. Friends and fans later speculated on how this moment would impact their careers and the broader entertainment industry.

“More than hurts. It seems a kind of agony, though he never mentions it. Despite surgery to repair nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand. It is stiffly gripped by a compression glove most of the time to ensure that blood doesn’t pool there.”

“It is a clamp, his pain, an icy shot up a relatively useless limb,” he said.

While he does not seem to wear the glove in his movies, a few fans also noticed it during the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Qatar.

“Before the first match of the tournament between the host nation and Ecuador, the Hollywood actor delivered a powerful speech to the crowd and millions watching at around the world,” The Mirror wrote.

During his encounter with Qatari influencer, Qatari influencer Ghanim al Muftah, Morgan Freeman was seen wearing a golden glove.

“We gather here as one big tribe and Earth is the tent we all live in,” he said. “Football spans the world, unites nations in their love of the beautiful game. What brings together nations also brings together communities.

“We all have a story on football and how it brought us together and this land has a story of its very own.”
