Taylor Swift fans believe they know why the singer split with her now ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.
It was reported over the weekend that Taylor Swift, 33, and actor Joe Alwyn, 32, have called it quits after six years of relationship.
On Saturday, April 8, Entertainment Tonight broke the news of their split and said it was conflict-free and involved no drama.
“The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows,” a source revealed to the outlet.
The news came while the Enchanted singer is on the go for her sold-out Eras tour.
“Alwyn has not been spotted at any shows, although reports claimed just weeks ago the two stars were still going strong,” Insider wrote.
“Joe will travel with her when he can,” a source close to the couple told People in March. “They are great together. Joe is super supportive of her career.”
Since the breakup news became viral, fans have expressed sadness about their split.
Many fans took to Twitter and even posted their potential theories behind the breakup.
According to Daily Mail, “Before the news broke, the singer, 33, who is known for dropping ‘Easter eggs’ in her songs, switched up her set list this week to include her song Champagne Problems.”
“The track depicts the story of two lovers dealing with a failed proposal, though the hopeful groom has already told members of is family who are opening bottles of champagne in a preemptive celebration.”
“Taylor famously penned the track with Joe, 32, who has co-written some of the pop stars songs including Sweet Nothing and Betty under the alias, William Bowery.”
A video of Swift performing Champagne Problems during one of her gigs last month has resurfaced online after the breakup news in which the Shake it Off singer could be seen getting emotional while singing the lyrics,
“She would’ve made such a lovely bride, What a shame she’s f**ked in the head, “they said, But you’ll find the real thing instead, She’ll patch up your tapestry that I shred.”
Commenting on the lyrics and Taylor’s emotional performance, many fans have said that the song that she and Joe wrote together is about their relationship, and the lyrics hint at the reason behind their split.
“IS THIS WHY SHE WAS CRYING DURING CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS??? BECAUSE THEY BROKE UP? STOP NO I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS,” one wrote.
“apparently that was the reason why she cried while performing champagne problems,” another said.
“THIS IS WHY SHE CRIED DURING CHAMPAGNE PROBLEM,” a third added.
“Listening to champagne problems now feels worse than before,” a fourth tweeted.
