11 fun ideas for dates at home

Dates are fun and exciting. Everything from deciding what to do, anticipating the day, dressing up and of course the date itself. Every bit of it has its own charm. But what about the date nights where you both are too tired to be bothered going out or simply lazy. Nothing to worry about. There are plenty of fun things to do at home too. There are so many merits to staying in with your boyfriend. The comfort. No need to be at your best behavior, since there’s just the two of you, you can be yourself. You save a lot. And if you get tired, it could be a nap date!

1. Have a spa day at home

You two could decide together on what you’d like to have the next person do. Neck rubs, pedicures, manicures, foot rubs, massages and the list goes on. Make sure it’s not something you’re doing for the very first time. The experience should be relaxing for both of you, not disturbing.

2. Board games!

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy them. Make it interesting. Guys usually love challenges. Exploit that. Make sure that a prize is awaiting the winner. Get creative with the prize so that everyone’s a winner.


3. Picnics

They never get old. You could prepare the picnic basket together. Find a spot you like and do what you’d normally do on a picnic. A nice, quiet spot would be perfect. Make sure the weather’s favorable too. You wouldn’t want your romance filled day ruined by some sort of a storm (that’s a bit of a stretch, but still).

4. Turn your living room into a camping site!

If the child inside you is still alive, take those pillows and mattresses and build that fort. Sleeping bags should work too (forts, always choose forts!). Watch something. Stuff yourself with camping-appropriate-food. Exchange stories. And sleep without any fear of bear attacks.

5. Game night

Specifically video games. You know how he worships his consoles and doesn’t mind spending hours playing games. And you’re sure that this is something he’s absolutely going to love and love you even more for suggesting it. If you’re a fan of video games, great. If not, you can give it a shot this one time. He’d love to teach you how to play. You never know you might love it. Moreover, if you’re not all that good, and are losing, ego boost for him. Even if you’re giving him a tough time, he loves the challenge.


6. Poker night

All those movies you’ve been meaning to watch together, but something or the other always comes up. Make sure the movies go well together. You could also watch a series. Whatever it is, you both should agree upon it. Get the snacks, pillows and blankets. And indulge yourself in the world of fiction! And there’s nothing wrong with falling asleep halfway through the marathon. There’s only so many movies you can watch in one go.

8. A massage night

Make sure you learn how to give a proper massage. Do not experiment on him! Make sure he does the same too. And you need not worry about him agreeing. He’d agree to it instantly. It would be equally relaxing for both of you. And well something as sensual as a massage would most of the times end up in more than just that.


9. A theme night

This might not appeal to a lot of people. But if you’re the kind of person to pull off such a thing, then have at it by all means. That is, of course, if your boyfriend is on board as well. It could be a decade theme, or a movie theme, or any number of things. Do everything in accordance from the food to the activities. You won’t be bored with this one.

10. A cook off

Decide on a day that suits you both. Bring you’re A-game to the kitchen. Well if both of you can’t cook, then this one isn’t for you. Maybe you two could cook something together. But if you’re both agreeable in the culinary department, you could cook to see who’s better. Just make sure you don’t set the house on fire.

11. Take turns planning date nights

This way you both get to do what you’d want to do on a date. Plan it out. Keep it a surprise (a delightful one, not a scary one). Even though you get to plan, don’t forget that your boyfriend’s a part of this date too. He should also be able to enjoy what you have in mind. And well have fun.

So these are just a few things you could do. There are probably plenty of things you’ve done from this list as well as apart from it. Staying in doesn’t mean you just sit there staring at each other with nothing to do. There are a number of things you can do and have an equally good time indoors.
