11 habits successful women have

˜Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.’

Maya Angelou

The definition of success differs with each individual. Furthermore, it keeps changing, depending upon the phase of life you’re going through. Back in school, making the swim team might’ve been it. A little down the road, passing the driving test, and maybe further down, making loads of money!

Some of us find joy in the little things that life has to offer us, while others might think them insignificant and maybe want a lot more. Whether you’re part of the former group or the latter, you should adopt the following habits to fulfill your definition of success;

  1. Make time for yourself, every single day

Single, married, studying, employed, unemployed or a mixture of any of these; each one of you deserve a little time for yourself. More so, you need it. It could be in the form of mediation, exercise, reading, a little music, shopping (best of all of course!) or any number of things. It should be something that you find relaxing and refreshing. Something that can always make you go through the day with a positive state of mind.

  1. Outdo yourself

Contentment is something alien to human nature. We’re never satisfied with what we have, and are always looking for more or for something better. Challenge yourself to be better than you were yesterday. Improve every little thing about yourself, constantly. Be it your intellect, health, relationships, career and so on. Keep reminding yourself that there is so much more to be achieved, and keep working for it. The key to success after all, is to keep pushing.

  1. Become well informed

What do you need to pass an exam? Respective subject knowledge. Whatever it is that you face, there is always going to be a solution. You just need to look for it, and needless to say, in the right places. If you’re going on a diet, or taking a vacation, or buying a car, or starting a new job or deciding on a school, explore all available options. Talk to the concerned people; consider their input, and so as much research as you need to make an informed decision.

  1. Learn to deal with the guilt accompanying every little thing

When you’re working or just out, you feel guilty for not spending time with your family. When you haven’t talked to your parents because you’ve been so occupied with everything, guilt alert! Taking time off from work for some reason and imagining the increased work load on a colleague again overwhelms you with guilt. You can’t do anything without feeling guilty. You want to do what’s good for you and everyone around you. But at the same time, you need to understand that you can’t tend to everyone’s needs at once. Someone or the other is going to be neglected. Learn to live with that. Do what feels right in that moment of time and what is most important.

  1. Stay healthy

It encompasses mental, physical and emotional well being as well. Physical health is usually given the utmost priority because it’s equally evident. But don’t neglect mental and emotional health in doing. Your heart and mind should be at peace as well. Only then can you focus on your goals and work towards them with determination. You won’t be able to do much if you’re distracted by things that disturb mental or emotional peace.

  1. Stay on top of your finances

If not the most important thing the world, money is still important. How else would you fulfill your basic needs for survival? You must learn to manage your finances. A successful woman knows how to make the most of what she makes. She knows where and when to spend her money and can easily identify unnecessary expenditures as well. If you’re good with money and can stay in your budget, you can rid yourself of so many problems.

  1. Smile!

Smiles are contagious. Spread them as much as you can. They can turn around so much. Be nice to everyone you meet and treat them well. People tend to things so much differently when dealt with nicely. You can avoid so many unfavourable situations simply by wearing your prettiest smile. After all, you’re never fully dressed without a smile!

  1. Work hard, play hard

You can’t give your best at work if you’re tired, or bored or too stressed out. You know you need time off to refresh your mind. A successful woman knows how to balance work and her life outside of the realms of work. She doesn’t mind working hard at times as she knows if no one else, she can always reward herself. Don’t make your work your life. It should only be a part of your life.

  1. Set a target and work out a plan

Want something? Make a plan, and strictly adhere to it. Even if you’re that person with crazy targets, tackle them with rationalised plans. Setting a goal without knowing how to achieve it is utterly pointless. You’re never getting anywhere with it. So, set a goal, devise a plan, succeed and repeat.

  1. Celebrate your achievements

Getting through a rough day without a nervous breakdown is reason enough to celebrate. Be it a successful cooking experiment or a satisfied client, they should be celebrated equally. Achieving something, and celebrating it regardless of its significance keeps you going. Don’t ever stop applauding yourself.

  1. Be kind and selfless

A successful woman knows that she’s only going to get what she works for. There is no room for envy or resentment. She is also certain that what’s meant for her cannot be snatched away from her by anyone. This leaves her free of any insecurity. Therefore, she is good to others, helps the people in need and gives generously. Be the kind of woman who has no fear of anyone getting ahead of her, if she helps them somehow.В Incorporate these habits into your routine. And the changes will be noteworthy.
