I am the kind of person who is just absolutely in love with the rain. I love the smell of the streets after they have been dampened with hard rainfall. I love the calming sounds of raindrops hitting the roof of my house or the hood of my car while I’m driving. I love the subtle sense of moisture in the air when it’s raining.
I love the dark and dull grayness of the sky when it’s just about to rain. I find great beauty and joy in the rain. I can always tell a lot about a person based on how they react whenever it rains. I gain a different perspective of the world whenever it rains. There are so many people who are just like me; people who are in love with the rain. And that’s not surprising because truly, what’s not to love about it?
If you are like me, if you are obsessively in love with the rain, then you are a pluviophile. And you might not have even known that there’s a word for it. But there is. If you want to know about the various signs and indicators that you are a pluviophile just like myself, then you’ve definitely come to the right place. If a lot of the signs listed below actually apply to you, then you are just like me; you’re a pluviophile.
1. You are really comfortable during literal rainy days.
People often use the term “rainy days” as a figure of speech to describe tough times and difficult moments. However, to you, rainy days are far from tough times. You don’t find rainy days to be difficult at all. You are able to find a sense of happiness and contentment during rainy days. In fact, you crave for these literal rainy days. You just love them.
2. You find great joy in just being outside.
You love being outdoors. You are the type of person who hates being confined within four enclosed walls. You hate the feeling of being restricted. You always want to be free. You always want to be roaming. You want to be engaged in freefall; much like a raindrop falling from the cloud.
3. Your favorite scent is that aroma that comes after rain.
You just LOVE that scent that comes after the rain passes through a place. In fact, if you had an opportunity to bottle it up and wear it as a cologne or perfume, you would most definitely do so.
4. You love it whenever the sky is dark and overcast.
Most people would prefer sunshine and blue skies. But you’re not like that. You love it when days are dark and gray. You love it when the sky is filled with gray clouds.
5. You love looking out of your window when it’s raining.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re in your office, when you’re resting at home, or when you’re in your car. When the rain starts to pour, you can’t help but just look out of the window. You can’t help but stare as the raindrops fall from the sky and hit the ground in an aggressive but also graceful manner. It’s all chaotic, but you somehow are able to find sense and order amidst all of all that chaos.
6. You like to get soaked in the rain.
You like the feeling of getting soaked in the rain. Whenever you are walking on the streets, and then the rain starts to pour, you don’t really panic. You don’t try to rush to get home. You don’t necessarily start scrambling to find an umbrella. You become content in the fact that you’re about to experience something that you love. You find happiness in getting soaked under the rain – much like a little kid.
7. You somehow find a sense of calm and serenity when you hear the sound of the rain.
You feel at ease whenever you hear the sound of the rain. It’s almost a therapeutic kind of experience for you. You are somehow a lot calmer and more serene whenever you hear the sound of the rain. You feel really peaceful; you feel like you have a sense of clarity within you when you hear the splatter of those raindrops on your window or on your roof.
At the end of the day, we all fall in love with different things – whether it makes sense to most people or not. And this is what I’ve grown to be in love with. This is what you’ve grown to be in love with as well, if the signs on here apply to you. And you shouldn’t be ashamed of it. You should never be afraid of feeling love; of having love. It doesn’t matter where you put your love in; so as long as you’re not harming other people. Because through it all, love is rarely ever going to be harmful to anyone anyway. And frankly speaking, we could all use a little more love in this world.
