Relationships are always going to be a wee bit tricky. They aren’t going to be the easiest roads to traverse and that’s fine. They’re not meant to be easy. That’s what makes love so worthwhile. That’s why love is so precious once you are able to attain it. It’s not something that you can just so easily find in this world. And it’s definitely not easy to sustain. However, just because there are certain setbacks and hardships in your relationship doesn’t mean that you should be so willing to give up on it. No relationship is perfect. And if there are certain red flags that might be worrying you, then you need to really take a good look at your relationship and figure out if it’s something that you should be worried about.
When a relationship just isn’t right for you, it’s only acceptable that you are able to walk away from it all. You don’t want to be wasting your time on a relationship that just isn’t going to work out anyway. That would be a great disservice to yourself. However, you shouldn’t be so fragile so as to just give up on a relationship when things get a little inconvenient. You want your relationship to be as perfect as possible. But that isn’t really going to happen. That’s why you need to develop a certain tolerance for a few and minor inconveniences. These are certain red flags that might rub you the wrong way but you can still choose to live with them. These red flags shouldn’t be a cause for worry just yet. Here are a few red flags that aren’t really a big deal in relationships.
1. Your partner seems emotionally distant from you.
It’s normal for you to feel uneasy about the fact that your partner has grown somewhat distant from you. However, a lot of the time, it doesn’t really have anything to even do with you. It might just be that your partner is preoccupied with other aspects of life. They might just happen to be dealing with some really tough issues that they need to focus on for the moment.
2. There is a weird change in your sex life.
You know that something is just off with the sex life in your relationship. It’s either that your partner suddenly gets really sensual with you or there is just a total lack of physical intimacy between the two of you. Don’t worry. The sexual energy in a relationship is always dynamic. It’s not something that is going to stay the same all throughout the entire stretch of the relationship.
3. Your partner doesn’t respond to messages right away.
Hey. You have to remember that you aren’t the only aspect of your partner’s life. They might have other people and things that might require their attention. They aren’t always going to be able to cater to your needs right away. If they’re not responding to your messages, it might just mean that they don’t have the time to be on their phone all the time.
4. Your partner focuses on things other than you and your relationship.
Again, your relationship isn’t necessarily going to be the only aspect of your partner’s life. You can’t expect your partner to just drop their career, hobbies, interests, and social life for you. That would be unfair. There will be times in your relationship wherein you won’t be the number one priority.
5. Your partner goes through a dramatic negative mood swing.
Mood swings happen to all of us and it’s not something that is necessarily caused by a relationship issue. Your partner might just be going through mood swings as a result of other things that might be affecting their mental makeup. You should just do your part to be there for them instead.
6. Your partner may seem very irritable.
Irritability towards you might seem like they totally hate you and they want out of the relationship. But that isn’t necessarily the case. They might just be irritated by something else and you just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. They might just be directing their anger at you even when they’re angry at something else.
7. Your partner doesn’t like to communicate as much anymore.
Communication is always going to be important for any kind of relationship. And that’s why you always want a partner who is open and communicative with you. However, it’s not necessarily a serious red flag if you feel like your partner isn’t communicating much with you for a short stretch. It might just mean that they’re trying to gather their thoughts before they talk about anything.
8. Your partner uncharacteristically stays at home or goes out a lot.
Your introverted partner seems to be going out a lot. Your extroverted partner might want to stay home all weekend. That doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong in your relationship. They might just want to break away from routine.
