8 Red Flags That Your Marriage Isn’t Going To Last

It’s true; to more and more people, the idea of marriage is becoming more and more unpopular. But there’s still no denying that there is a bunch of people out there who still believe in the idea of marriage and lifelong relationships. There are still those of us who date to meet people we can potentially spend the rest of our lives with. Marriage remains to be the ultimate institution of human relationships for so many of us. And there’s no denying just how big of a deal marriages are to a lot of couples all over the world.

These days, marriages are dropping like flies. And it’s sad. There are just so many couples who supposedly reach the climax of their relationships only to find out that they have expiration dates after all. There are a lot of marriages that just end because of a variety of issues; infidelity, irreconciliation, incompatibility, and many more. It’s unfortunate but it’s true. There are just so many variables that go into making a marriage work; and sometimes, not even love and effort are going to be enough to offset the many problems that may be plaguing a marriage. There are just too many things to keep track of; and a lot of couples can crumble underneath all of that pressure.

Whenever you decide to make that solemn vow; that promise to stay with another human being for the rest of your life, you can very well believe it as you’re making it. When you get married to someone, you can genuinely believe that you’re going to commit to waking up next to a single person for your life. However, people change. You are constantly learning more and more things about life and about yourself as you make your way through this world. And in the process of learning, you can change – you can adapt. And that’s why it’s normal for so many people to go back on their beliefs and promises.

They can change. And it’s perfectly possible for you to be committing to a single person today; and not want to have anything to do with that same person 10 or 20 years from now. But that’s why you have to do your part to make sure that you are latching yourself on to someone who you are pretty sure you are never going to change feelings about. And sometimes, early on in a relationship, it can be very easy to tell if a marriage is eventually going to fail. Here are some signs that your marriage isn’t going to last.

1. Your partner doesn’t express any care about how you feel.

You have a partner who doesn’t really prioritize how you feel. Your emotions and thoughts are often disregarded and discarded. You are never made to feel safe whenever you want to express yourself. You always feel like you aren’t being listened to.

2. Your partner stops trying to flirt with you.

You should never stop trying to flirt with one another in your relationship. You should always be putting in the effort to make yourselves more attractive to each other.

3. You treat your partner like a drop box for all of your complaints.

Sometimes, it just gets to a point where you need to keep some stuff to yourself. Yes, you should be able to go to your partner for anything. But if you’re just constantly spitting out negativity, then your partner just is just going to eventually tune you out.

4. Your partner belittles and demeans you just to make you feel bad.

There should always be room for criticism in any kind of relationship. Honest criticism is always key to growth and learning; but it should always be done with love and sensitivity. If your partner is only doing I to make you feel bad, then you know that something is wrong.

5. You would both rather go out without the other.

You don’t like spending time with one another? Then what makes you think that you’re going to be able to spend the rest of your lives together?

6. You find yourselves never being able to come to a resolution on your conflicts.

You keep on arguing about the same things over and over again. You can never find peace in your relationship because of your inability to come to a compromise on anything.

7. You hold your partner back from their goals and dreams.

You shouldn’t be holding one another back from goals and dreams. Your relationship shouldn’t be a hurdle for either of you to get to where you both need to be. You should be a team; constantly pushing and propelling each other to success.

8. You aren’t excited at the idea of the future.

You aren’t excited about the future because of how terrible and dreadful the present is. If you find that the current overall atmosphere of your relationship just doesn’t make you happy, then it’s likely that the future is probably going to be the same.
