8 Signs That You Are Severely Depressed (And You Need To Do Something About It)

Depression. It’s something that a lot of people tend to not want to discuss because it makes them uncomfortable. It’s also something that a lot of people tend to misunderstand and misconstrue. Depression is a very complex psychological condition that a human being goes through; it’s more than just an exaggerated feeling of sadness. Depression is so much more than feeling blue after having a bad day. Depression isn’t just the mere struggle to find luck in this world. Depression goes so much deeper than that; and there’s no reason for anyone to be shying away from discussing this topic.

It’s a very real and serious condition that plenty of us go through in this life; and the better aware we are about this issue, the more equipped we will be to handle it if we happen to find it in ourselves or in the people we love. Sadness is painful. But sadness doesn’t automatically translate to depression – and vice versa. Depression isn’t merely about a person who has to deal with constant sadness. You can get over being sad by distracting yourself. But you can’t get over depression as easily as you would with sadness.

Depression is something that demands to be felt. It’s a constant nagging at the back of your mind. It forces you to isolate yourself from everyone else even though deep down inside, all you want is for someone to help you out; for someone to pat you on the shoulder and tell you that everything is going to be alright. You might be prone to depression yourself and you might not even know it. It’s very important that you are able to spot depression within you so that you can seek the help that you need to overcome it. Depression has destroyed and ended so many lives; and you don’t want that to be the kind of narrative that you put yourself through.

If you find that you can relate to a lot of the things that are going to be listed in this article, then it’s highly likely that you are prone to depression. When that’s the case, you have to understand that this isn’t a battle that you need to be fighting alone. It’s always okay to open up about your condition. It’s always okay to seek help from friends, loved ones, and licensed professionals. You should never have to feel like you need to take on this challenge on your own. You are allowed to call on the people around you for support. Here are the various signs that you might have depression.

4. You get irritated all too easily.

You are dealing with so much negativity inside of you that you’re going to end up lashing out a lot. You are going to want to release your pain through anger.

Just like having unhealthy sleeping patterns, having unhealthy sleeping habits is also a sign of depression. It’s either you’re not eating enough to the point of malnutrition; or you’re eating too much to the point of obesity.

You no longer have a love or a passion for the things that used to really excite you; the things that you used to be enthused by.
