8 Telltale Signs You’re in a Situationship, And Not A Relationship

Knowing the signs of a situationship is important so you can recognize it sooner. Understanding that you’re in a situationship can help you avoid getting emotionally attached.

Here are a few signs that you might be in a situationship.

You Haven’t Defined The Relationship

In a situationship, things can get confusing. You and your partner haven’t talked about your relationship status. You enjoy spending time together, but there’s no clear label on what you are to each other. It’s like watching a movie without knowing its genre – you’re left wondering what’s really going on. If you find yourself in this kind of romantic limbo, it might be a big sign you’re in a situationship.

No Consistency

In a healthy relationship, there’s a sense of reliability and consistency. You know you can count on each other, and there’s a regular rhythm to your interactions. But in a situationship, it’s more like riding a rollercoaster – one day, you’re texting non-stop, and the next, it’s radio silence. It can leave you feeling emotionally whiplashed and uncertain about where you stand.

No Talk About the Future

Imagine this: you’re on a road trip, but you don’t know where you’re going. That’s how it feels in a situationship. There’s no talk about the future—no dreams of travel, no plans for holidays, and no discussions about where you both see yourselves in a year. It’s like being stuck in a relationship and not moving forward.

Things Don’t Progress

In a relationship, you develop and learn together – emotionally, mentally, and sometimes practically too. But in a situationship, you might feel stuck, doing the same things repeatedly. There’s no progress. It’s like being in a revolving door, going in circles, but never stepping outside to discover new things together.

The Connection Is Superficial

In a real relationship, you connect deeply over shared values, interests, and feelings. There’s a meaningful bond that goes beyond just the surface. But in a situationship, the connection can feel shallow. It’s more about having fun and being physically attracted to each other rather than building something lasting and meaningful.

There Is No Concrete Proof You Are A Couple

In a situationship, it can feel like you’re a secret agent in a relationship without any proof. There’s no public acknowledgment of your bond – you might not be introduced as a partner to friends or family, and your social media status stays the same. It’s like being invisible; this lack of clear evidence can make you feel unimportant and unvalued.

Mixed Signals Galore

In a situationship, understanding your partner’s feelings can be like figuring out a tricky puzzle. Sometimes they seem interested and caring, but other times they act distant and uninterested. It’s like trying to find your way through a maze of confusing signals, and it makes you unsure about what they really feel and want.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Being on a rollercoaster at an amusement park can be thrilling, but when it comes to emotions, it can be tiring. In a situationship, you might go through strong ups and downs without any stability. It’s like being on an emotional rollercoaster without a safety belt, making you feel emotionally tired and unsure about your partner’s commitment.

  1. I was in one just recently and let me tell you my anxiety level was off the chart! One day he’s all into you the next he’s not ! Situationship are hard especially when you find out that you’re not the only one they are sleeping with ! I use to go over his house only once a week and I found it that strange, when I ask around what time to go over he always said 9:30 pm ! when I use to tell him I felt like a call girl he would say No don’t think like that! because i was catching feeling for him i overlooked it. To be honest the only thing I saw in this situationship was the 4 walls in his bedroom ! And let me tell you it was hard to let him go especially when i was catching feeling ! It was hard for me but I knew that I had to because while he was enjoying the situationship I was drowning in anxiety and that wasn’t good! Now all I want is Peace and tranquility and NOMORE SITUATIONSHIP!!!!!
