9 Things To Do To Build Your Self-Confidence

Confidence isn’t necessarily something that you are inherently born with. It’s not a “gift” that is only bestowed on the select few. It’s something that people have to work on and build over time.

When you see a person who has impeccable confidence, it’s likely that that individual has been built or bred to be that way. It’s either they have worked on it on their own over the years or it was instilled in them by those around them.

Confidence is something that you have to learn to build up most especially if you want to make a mark in this world. You must always believe in yourself if you are looking to make the most out of your own potential.

When you are confident, you are able to overcome a lot of the insecurities and anxieties that might hold you back from your success. That’s why it’s important that you work on your confidence.

You might come across a few people who are going to give you a few negative remarks. You might come across some individuals who will serve as a threat to the pursuit of your dreams.

You can’t let these things set you back from going after what you want. If only this world was full of positivity all the time. But that isn’t the case. You are going to be bombarded with a lot of negative energy as well. And you will need your confidence to combat this negative energy as you make your way through this life.

If you feel like your confidence needs some work, then you have come to the right article. We all have room for improvement sometimes. And it’s good that you have the humility to acknowledge that you have enough room for growth. Here are a few things that you can do to help build your level of confidence.

1. Continually visualize the person you want to become.

Visualization is key when it comes to building up your confidence. It can be so easy for you to become who you want to be if you’re always visualizing that person in your head. The clearer the idea you have of who you want to become, the easier it will be for you to actually become that person.

2. Do one thing that frightens you every day (or at least, as much as possible).

Okay, you don’t have to do something that frightens you every single day. But at the very least, do it often. When you are able to conquer your fears, it can teach you a lot about your potential in this world.

3. Get into a debate with your inner critic.

You are always going to have that voice in your head telling you that you’re not good enough for something. Don’t be afraid to get into a debate with that voice. Convince yourself of why you have what it takes to go after something in life.

4. Learn to desensitize yourself to rejection.

Jia Jiang made popular the idea conquering fear by learning to desensitize one’s self to rejection. He would ask at least 100 people some outrageous requests so that they would reject or deny him. His intent was to make himself used to the idea of people rejecting him so that he won’t let the fear of rejection get in the way of his success.

5. Put yourself in positions to succeed.

The more you succeed in this life, then the more confident you’re going to become. And how do you find success? Well, a bulk of it lies in putting yourself in positions to succeed in the first place.

6. Learn to be of service to others.

Always try to live a life of service to others. Not only will you be making the lives of those around you a lot better. But you are also going to be affirming your worth and value to others as well. You will discover that you have so much more to offer the world than you might think.

7. Take some good care of yourself.

Self-care is always going to be of the essence when it comes to promoting confidence. You can’t expect to feel good about who you are if you don’t even take good care of yourself. Simple things like looking after your health and physical wellness can do wonders for your confidence.

8. Set serious boundaries for yourself.

You always want to make sure that you set boundaries for your life and the people you interact with. When you set serious boundaries, you are essentially telling people that you value your dignity. You are telling them that they can’t just treat you less than what you deserve.

9. Try to see yourself as an equal to others.

People with low self-esteem tend to see other people as those who are above them. You can’t do that. Always see yourself on equal footing with everyone. That’s the most effective way to not get intimidated whenever you are interacting with others.
