Amber Heard’s sister Whitney slammed MTV for inviting Johnny Depp to their 2022 Music Video Awards.
On Saturday, August 27, the Pirates of the Caribbean star made his first ever TV appearance after the blockbuster defamation trial.
“The Pirates of the Caribbean star made a brief cameo at the award show on August 28, appearing as a Moon Person—the award show’s mascot—in a pre-recorded bit. Johnny’s VMAs participation was not officially confirmed by MTV before the award show, leaving some viewers a bit surprised at the guest.” E! reported.
After watching Johnny at the award show, Whitney Henriquez lashed out at MTV for making him a part of their award show.
“@MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters.” She wrote on her Instagram story.
‘Whitney, 34, also shared another message on her Instagram Story that said ‘I stand with Amber Heard’ alongside a graphic that renamed the event the ‘DVMAs’ an apparent reference to domestic violence.’ Per Daily Mail.
‘The pre-recorded bit showed Depp, 59, dressed up as the music channel’s iconic Moonman logo.’
‘Depp – whose face appeared to be superimposed in the space suit – could be heard in a voice-over saying: ‘I just want you guys to know that I’m available for birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, any old thing you need.’”
‘Alluding to his drama with his ex-wife Heard, 36, that he claims caused him to lose out on film roles, the embattled actor joked: ‘And you know what? I needed the work.’”
Since the jury’s decision came out in June this year, the Rum Diary actor has made several public appearances and been celebrated worldwide. He’s also been offered roles by several Hollywood directors who are dying to cast Depp in their movies.
Rumors also said that Depp was returning to the Pirates franchise; however, those were mere rumors, and one of his representatives said he would never return to play Captain Jack Sparrow again.
Right now, Johnny is shooting his first-ever French film, Jeanne Du Barry, in which he is playing the role of King Louis XV alongside Maiwenn Le Besco. The movie is set to be released in 2023.
‘The shooting of the film has already begun, and according to some sources, the production team claims that it will take them less than a year to complete the filming.’ We reported earlier this month.
