American Idol fans have threatened to boycott the show over Katy Perry’s rude behavior.
The singer has been slammed by many fans of the show for her controversial attitude during the show.
According to The Sun, “Many singers cracked under pressure and wound up going home during the show’s dreaded Hollywood week.”
“This comes as the hitmaker has already been called out recently for “bullying” and “mom-shaming” some Idol hopefuls.”
The Firework singer was harsh on two contestants, Carina DeAngelo and Nutsa Abuza, who struggled with their duet performance in the latest American Idol episode.
The duo paired up for a performance during the show but quickly had an argument about the outfits they would wear on stage.
“Before taking the stage in front of the judges, they butted heads about how long they should perform. They clashed again over the outfits they would wear on stage with Carina opting for a casual look consisting of a black top, a ripped denim jacket, and distressed denim pants while Nutsa went big in a neon overcoat and full glam,” The Sun wrote.
The pair tried to reveal their challenges to the judges and said they might be unable to deliver their best performance.
“They sang I Put a Spell on You, and it was very quickly apparent that the performance did not land with the judges — especially Katy.”
“I must admit it was a little,” judge Lionel Richie began before he was interrupted by the Teenage Dream singer, “underwhelming,” she said.
“I just think the energy was broken between both of you and so I think you couldn’t give each other the energy you both needed. That you both deserved. I think you’re both better than that performance,” she added.
Both contestants got eliminated, which didn’t sit well with many fans.
“Who the F does Katy Perry think she is?! Just half watched that performance where she MOM shames and makes all these little back handed comments. Lost all respect for her and will never listen to her mediocre music again,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I’ve never watched American Idol before. Katy Perry is absolutely insufferable,” said another.
“@katyperry is rude and overrated, time for a new judge that brings everything and then some, just to bad,” a third added.
When host Ryan Seacrest posted photos from the show on his Instagram and asked people to tune in, many fans blasted Perry in the comment section.
“Katy is so rude and condescending to the contestants unless it’s a male cutie then she acts like a teenage fool. One contestant quit because of her, bye bye Katy!” one wrote.
“And the Katy Perry remarks were rude also. Lost control, the show is now contrived and it’s an insult to the viewer! Bye bye,” a second said.
“Katy is acting so rude. I might boycott the show for a bit,” added another.
