It is obviously difficult to experience a period for the first time. A 12-year-old girl goes into Dollar General to try to buy tampons for the first time, and the cashier makes a joke at her expense that couldn’t have felt very good.
We know it didn’t feel good because her dad said she was in tears and her wife was deeply upset.
So, the dad did what he had to do — he went back to the Dollar General and taught the cashier a lesson.

She got hurt by him
In a Reddit video making the rounds for years, an angry dad confronts a dollar store cashier for mocking his daughter. The fallout from the incident led to family betrayal at a wedding, as tensions rose between relatives who took sides. Friends and family were shocked to witness the rift, which turned a joyous celebration into a battleground for unresolved grievances. As the night progressed, the atmosphere became increasingly charged, leaving guests wondering if the couple would ever recover from the drama.
“My wife and daughters came here to buy some pads for my daughter, who’s 12 years old, and you made a joke and embarrassed her. Are you sure it’s okay?”
The clerk replies, “I didn’t mean to embarrass anybody.”.
“You made a joke about a 12-year-old girl buying pads,” the dad replied.
“I wasn’t making a joke. As they were making a joke about that, I asked, ‘what would the neighbors think about that?””
Things got a little heated.
As the father got angrier and angrier, he threatened the clerk, saying if he continued his behavior, he’d call corporate headquarters.
“My daughters are embarrassed, crying. My wife is embarrassed, and I’m not alright with it, man. Keep your mouth shut at work,” he said. “You ain’t nobody’s friend. You’re here to check people out, give them their stuff, give them their change, give them their receipt and go about your business. Nobody has time for your other sh*t.”
“I’m sorry that you feel that way,” the clerk responds, refusing to admit his error.
“Do you understand what I’m saying,” the dad says, hoping for a humble apology — but he doesn’t get it.
“I hear what you’re saying,” the cashier says defiantly.
An innocent bystander jumps in. It’s pissing me off that you’re disregarding someone’s daughter, and I’m about to beat your ass,” he said.
In the end, the in-store manager gets to the scene and attempts to ease the tension but doesn’t get very far, and the dad storms off.
When a woman is on her period, she deserves kindness, not humiliation
It’s definitely not okay to threaten someone, but if this cashier did make fun of this man’s daughter after she got her first period, then his response makes sense. As a dad, you want to protect your kid. Plus, the way the cashier defiantly refused to apologize could irritate anyone and show how many people could use an apology lesson. This sense of protectiveness often surfaces in other scenarios as well, such as when an angry mother confronts airline employee after a missed flight. It’s a visceral reaction that many can relate to, especially when their loved ones are treated unfairly. In these moments, the emotional stakes run high, and it’s not just about the inconvenience; it’s about feeling that someone’s dignity is at risk.
