Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt once bid $120,000 to date the Game of Thrones star, Emilia Clarke, but he was outbid.
In January 2018, Clarke, 36, was bid on by the Fight Club actor who wanted to watch an episode of Game of Thrones with her on a date night.
The bidding was done during a charity gala at Sean Penn’s annual gala for Haiti at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. During the silent auction, Pitt offered $120,000 to win a chance to spend the night with the Mother of Dragons.
However, he was outbid when another mystery man put $160,000 on the table, which made Emilia ‘very sad.’
Speaking about the bid and recalling the event during an interview with Graham Norton on his show Clarke revealed that she got disappointed when someone else ended the auction outbidding the Bullet Train actor.
“There was an auction for a charity do that I was asked to take part in so I offered time with myself, and as the bidding started I realized Brad Pitt was trying to buy me,” she said.
The auction began at $20,000, but the race escalated as so many people became excited to get a chance to spend a night with Khaleesi. The event was attended by many A-listers of the industry, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with GOT stars Emilia and Kit Harrington.
At one point during the auction, the auctioneer yelled asking, ‘Is the King of the North here?’ when Jon Snow returned from the restroom and took his seat next to Clarke.
According to Variety, “Pitt bid $80,000 to watch an episode of “GOT” with Clarke. Then he outbid himself to $90,000. When Harington came back into the room, the actor offered to also sit in on the episode viewing. And that’s when Pitt raised his own bid to $120,000.”
However, he still lost the bid to another gala-goer who put $160,000 on the table and ended the auction.
“They called me and were like do you want to auction something off like an experience…like watching the show [GOT] with you,” Emilia told Norton on his show The Graham Norton Show in May 2018.
The actress recalled attending the event and said there were so many celebrities in attendance – “It was basically Oscars,” joked Emilia.
After coming up with a plan, Clarke asked her friend, sitting at the same table as her, to bid on her so she wouldn’t be embarrassed.
However, when the bid started, she was shocked to see who the other bidder was – of course, it was the Babylon star, Brad Pitt.
“I was thinking this is mental, and then someone else said, it’s Brad Pitt and then I went lol” she added. “And then I look over to the room and Brad has his paddle up.”
“I was like thanks very much, it’s very sweet and then someone else’s paddle went up on the other side of the room,” she continued. “…someone else’s paddle went up across the room, and I didn’t really know and suddenly, it was becoming a bit of money a bit of money.”
