After revealing her second pregnancy at the Sunday 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, the singer has detailed her relationship with A$AP Rocky and her son.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, the superstar gushed about her relationship with her partner, the American rapper A$AP Rocky, and said he is her best friend.
The singer also admitted that she has embraced motherhood like it is everything to her.
“We’re best friends with a baby,” RiRi told Vogue. “We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship. Everything changes when you have a baby, but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”
The Diamonds singer added that Rocky liked having a baby boy.
“At first he was open, then he was like, ‘Nah, I want a boy, I’m sure.’” she said, smiling, “I was just like, ‘Lord, please let this man get what he wants.’”
The singer-turned-beauty mogul posed along with her rockstar beau and her nine-month-old son for the magazine’s cover of the following month’s issue.
Speaking of her son, Rihanna also said that she couldn’t even remember what her life was like before giving birth to her son in May 2022.
“It’s everything, you really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.”
The 34-year-old singer first revealed her pregnancy in January 2022 when she walked in Harlem with Rocky with her baby bump on display.
She and her long-time best friend, A$AP Rocky, has been dating for the past three years. The couple officially started dating in 2020 and have been inseparable ever since.
When the singer was asked about Rocky’s relationship with their son, she said he is the best father.
“I’m literally the girl trying to get into the boys club, waiting for my turn,” she laughed. “He is obsessed with his father. And I’m like: ‘Didn’t I give birth to you? What is going on?’”
She added that Rocky and their baby boy have an undeniable connection with each other.
“The second Rocky makes eye contact with him he is on fire. The whole thing they say about sons and moms, it’s a myth. Sons and fathers is crazy.”
The Umbrella singer is currently pregnant with their second child.
The rumor of Rihanna’s pregnancy had the internet abuzz on Sunday as she took the stage at the Super Bowl Half Time Show.
Rihanna’s attire, cautious strides, and noticeable belly sparked widespread speculation on the internet. And within an hour, a spokesperson confirmed that she is indeed expecting her second child.
“I realized that the validation that you really need as a boy is from your father,” she told Vogue.
The 34-year-old Barbadian singer put on an amazing performance in front of a worldwide audience of millions at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs were competing.
This marks her first appearance on live television since 2018, when she teamed up with DJ Khaled to sing “Wild Thoughts” at the Grammy Awards.
While most of her fans were happy to see RiRi back in form, many people questioned her principles for not staying true to her words.
In February 2019, the NFL approached the singer to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. However, she turned down the offer and said she wouldn’t do that in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
According to The Guardian, “In 2016, quarterback Kaepernick started to kneel for the pre-game national anthem in protest at racial injustice in the United States. He has been out of the NFL since leaving the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, and he later settled a case with the league in which he alleged he had been blackballed by team owners for his protests.”
And Rihanna boycotted Super Bowl because of her support for him.
“Absolutely,” she told Vogue in October 2019. “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”
During her recent interview with the same publication, when she was asked why she decided to perform on the platform after avoiding it for years, Rihanna said,
“There’s still a lot of mending to be done in my eyes but it’s powerful to break those doors, and have representation at such a high, high level and a consistent level.”
