Channing Tatum is sharing his grief over the tragic passing of his Magic Mike XXL co-star and dear friend, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, at the age of 40.
Taking to his Instagram, the 42-year-old actor penned a heartbreaking short message for Boss, who died of suicide on Wednesday, December 13, 2022.
“I have no words. There aren’t any. My head or heart can not understand this,” Tatum wrote alongside an old photo of him and Boss posing together. “There is just so much… I don’t know where to begin.”
“I love you,” he added. “I’ll see you again, my friend. Until then.”
The duo appeared together in the box office hit movie in 2015. In the movie, Stephen played the role of Malik, the rival of Channing’s lead character, Magic Mike.
The Comedy drama film proved to be a breakthrough for Stephen, who had started appearing on the Ellen Show as the DJ in 2014.
On December 13, the freestyle hip-hop dancer, choreographer, and television personality was found dead in a hotel in Los Angeles.
According to the autopsy report, the 40-year-old popular DJ died of suicide.
“In a statement to PEOPLE, county officials confirm that the 40-year-old professional dancer died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His death occurred on Tuesday at a motel in the Encino area of Los Angeles.”
“The case is now closed, per the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.”
RadarOnline reported that the beloved TV star was found dead at the Oak Tree Inn by the motel’s maid after he missed his checkout time. When the maid entered his room, she found him dead in the bathroom.
The hotel manager confirmed that Boss took his life on Tuesday, December 13, in the motel where several guests were staying.
“Photos shot on Wednesday reveal vehicles and people coming and going from the Encino, CA, facility, which was just a 14-minute walk from tWitch’s Los Angeles home.”
According to the manager, the hotel staff didn’t hear any gunshots. However, after the maid discovered his body in the bathroom, she immediately informed the manager, who called 911.
“The manager said no visible suicide note was left, but tWitch did have a small bag with him when he arrived at the motel, which was found in his room at the time of his death,” per RadarOnline.
His death was initially confirmed by his beloved wife, Allison Holker, in a statement to PEOPLE.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband, Stephen, has left us,” Holker told the outlet. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
Apart from Channing, Jada Pinkett Smith, another costar from the movie, also shared her feelings following Boss’s death.
“I woke up this morning to the news that tWitch is gone,” she wrote on Instagram on December 14.
The Matrix actress shared a photo with Stephen and Donald Glover and said she had a lot of good times with the late star on the set of Magic Mike.
“My heart aches for his wife, Allison, and their children, Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia. My condolences to all his loved ones that he has left behind. We had a lot of good times on the set of Magic Mike.”
She added, “He was so sweet, kind, and generous. So many people suffer in silence. I wish he could have known that he didn’t have to. May his beautiful, shining soul rest in the arms of the Great Supreme and may that same Higher Power heal the shattered hearts of his loved ones.”
Stephen Boss’s death is a deep shock to his friends and family as he celebrated his ninth anniversary with his wife, Allison Holker, only three days ago.
The 40-year-old shared pictures from their reception on Instagram and wrote, “Happy anniversary, my love,” along with several heart emojis.
And only three days later, on December 13, the freestyle hip-hop dancer, choreographer, and television personality was gone.
