American singer and television personality Cher, 77, recently shared her thoughts on why she prefers dating younger men. Renowned for captivating audiences worldwide, Cher’s charm and wit continue to win hearts.
Cher’s candid remark about her dating choices has stirred interest, thanks to her refreshing honesty. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the ‘Believe’ singer discussed her romantic past. She even shared a surprising encounter with none other than the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, confessing that she turned down his advances because of her nerves.
“It was because I was nervous, and I knew of the people around him and it wasn’t that they were bad people, it’s just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation and I mean. ‘I’m really shy when I’m not working and kind of shy around men,'” she said.
Isn’t it surprising, given Cher’s iconic status? Nowadays, though, she’s happily dating record executive Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, who is 39 years her junior. The legendary singer revealed that she prefers younger men because they’re more open to strong, independent women like herself.
“I would rather date men from later generations, who ‘were raised by women like me’ and were therefore never scared of me,” she added, “And the reason I got with young men is because men my age or older – well, now they’re all dead.”
“But before they just never, they were always terrified to approach me,” she concluded.
But Edwards doesn’t exactly fit that pattern. Their relationship has been a rollercoaster since they were first linked romantically in 2022 after meeting at Paris Fashion Week. Although they hit a rough patch in May 2023, it appears that the superstar couple has worked through their issues and are still going strong as of September 2023.
The singer has openly expressed her affection for the 38-year-old, emphasizing that his sense of humor, among other qualities, keeps her captivated.
“He’s kind, smart, hilarious… and we kiss like teenagers,” Cher said while addressing a fan’s query on social media.
At first, fans expressed worries about Cher’s new romance, especially after learning that the producer had been unfaithful to his ex, Amber Rose, with whom he has a son named Slash Electric Alexander Edwards.
However, the 77-year-old eased those concerns in her signature iconic style.
“I’m in love, not blinded by it,” she stated.
