Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sister Slams Qatar Tournament, Calls it the “Worst World Cup Ever”

After his girlfriend, now the sister comes forward with her criticism of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

After the extraordinary win of Argentina in the World Cup final match in Qatar, the entire world is celebrating the winning team and the beloved world champion, Lionel Messi, who just won his first world cup trophy on Sunday, December 18.

The only people who aren’t happy with the tournament’s results are the ones close to Messi’s football arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese footballer didn’t have a happy tournament this year, and his team was eliminated in the quarter-final match after they lost the game to Morocco.

Not just that, but Ronaldo has had a very disappointing World Cup overall, as he was benched by his team coach, Fernando Santos, in two matches – first during Portugal’s match against Switzerland and then against Morocco.

Santos benched Ronaldo from opening the match against the Swiss team and replaced him with 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos, who proved to be a revelation and scored a hat-trick.

Team Portugal owned the match despite Ronaldo’s absence for the most part, and they defeated Switzerland by 6-1.

The 37-year-old came to play in the match for the last 17 minutes but didn’t score any goals.

According to Daily Mail“Ronaldo cut an isolated figure after Portugal’s stunning 6-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday night as he walked off the pitch while his team-mates continued to celebrate their stunning performance on the field.”

“The Portuguese captain made his own way to the dressing room following the game, having been dropped by coach Fernando Santos.”

This was the first time Ronaldo failed to start a Portugal match since Euro 2008.

Coach Fernando made this decision after his “unhappy reaction to being substituted in the 65th minute of the final group match against South Korea,” per Fox Sports.

“I didn’t like it, not at all,” Santos said. “I really didn’t like it. We dealt with this internally. From that moment onwards, everything is finished — full-stop on that issue. It is solved, we fixed it, and that’s it.”

He added in his statement, “I will only decide who is going to be the captain when I reach the stadium. I don’t know the lineup. That’s what I always do. What I have always done is focus on the immediate match. I am not worried if one report is right or wrong.”

Santos also said although he has a very close relationship with Cristiano, the disciplinary matter needs to be taken care of in a rather tactical and strategic way.

But obviously, his actions were not liked by Ronaldo fans, and people called him out for benching the legendary player. The top criticizers were his girlfriend and sister, who claimed that the coach and the entire Portugal team had been unfair to him.

Taking to her Instagram after the final match, Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, called the 2022 FIFA World Cup the Worst Tournament ever before proceeding to congratulate the winning team.

“The worst World Cup of all time… that thankfully gave us a great final. What a match. Congratulations to Argentina,” she wrote on her story.

The 45-year-old didn’t even bother congratulating the winning champion, Lionel Messi, for his glorious victory. Still, instead, she clapped for the 24-year-old French football player, Mbappe, for scoring three stunning goals against Argentina.

“Kylian Mbappe. This boy is unreal. What a bright future awaits you. Incredible,” she added.
