Dad Fakes his own Death to Teach his Family a Lesson, then Shows Up at Funeral in Helicopter

A father has left the internet baffled after faking his own death to teach his family a lesson before showing up at the funeral in a helicopter to shock everyone.

David Baerten, a TikToker from Belgian, staged the ‘controversial’ prank after becoming disheartened with his family, who had grown apart and stopped staying in touch with each other.

The 45-year-old content creator, who goes by the username @ragnar_le_fou on TikTok, carried out the prank with the help of his family – his wife and children helped him orchestrate the whole drama with his daughter writing on social media,

“Rest in peace, Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you. Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you.

“I love you! We love you! We will never forget you.”

According to Baerten, 45, he did what he did to teach everyone the importance of staying close.

“What I see in my family often hurts me, I never get invited to anything,” he explained.

“Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated. That’s why I wanted to give them a life lesson and show them that you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them.”

His friend, Thomas Faut, shared the clip of David arriving at his funeral in a helicopter on TikTok. In the footage, when David arrived at his funeral, everyone was shocked, and the family members were shown running towards him before embracing him.

“Cheers to you all, welcome to my funeral,” he said to the mourners.

“I swear I was crying, and then I had the shock buddy, we love you very much.” Thomas told David. “You had us. We love you, my friend. We are happy you are still among us.”

According to David, only half of his family attended his funeral. But he was later contacted by almost everyone who failed to show up and asked about his well-being.

“That proves who really cares about me. Those who didn’t come have contacted me to meet up. So in a way, I did win,” he said.

The TikTok clip has gone viral on social media and received thousands of comments from viewers who blasted David and his family for pulling the prank.

“The ego on this guy must be tremendous,” one wrote.

“Now we know why people didn’t like him,” a second said.

“What if the helicopter crashed and he died at his own funeral,” a third joked.

“And he wonders why he’s never invited to anything,” wrote another.
