Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly were filmed together at Say Yes, a Los Angeles speakeasy and cocktail lounge, on Wednesday, October 14. Us Weekly reported the sighting, which came from footage shared by DeuxMoi. Neither Johnson, 37, nor MGK, 36, has publicly confirmed a relationship.

The Latest Sighting in L.A.

MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, went for all black, with a hoodie pulled partly over his face. In the footage he stops to greet a passer-by on the way in. Johnson wore a black leather jacket over a cropped white tee and dark pants.

Say Yes opened earlier this year. Us Weekly describes a meticulously restored building trimmed in gold, built around the look of 1920s Hollywood. Guests can buy a liquor locker membership and keep a favorite bottle waiting for their next visit. There is live entertainment and a haberdashery on site.

He kept his face covered and walked into a place that sells lockers for repeat visits. Both things can be true at once.

How Their Romance Started

Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 3 is where Us Weekly places the first connection. In September, the outlet reported that the two had hit it off on a date in New York City and spent time at Swift’s apartment while she was away.

Milan came next. Johnson sat in the audience at the Vogue World: Milano show during Milan Fashion Week while MGK walked the runway in an orange Byblos jumpsuit.

Late in September, according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, the pair were seriously dating and talking and FaceTiming every day for a month. Per that source, it began at the wedding. “There was an instant spark.” Going by that source’s account, people around Johnson read the Milan trip as the sign this was serious. Same insider on Johnson: a hopeless romantic with a thing for musicians, drawn to his charm.

July to October. One wedding, one New York date, one runway, one speakeasy, and a FaceTime call every day in between.

Daily calls do a specific kind of work early on. Two people who are rarely in the same city can stay in each other’s routine without the logistics of dating. A month of that, followed by flying to another country to watch someone walk a runway, is a pace that feels obvious from the inside. From the outside it looks fast. Neither view is wrong. Speed in a new relationship tends to come from repetition more than from big gestures, and the repetition here was daily.

What Friends Think of the Relationship

Not everyone close to Johnson is convinced. Us Weekly learned that some of her friends have wondered whether MGK is the right fit for her.

Friends usually raise that question at exactly this stage, when the person they know is moving quickly and they have not yet seen the new partner up close. A FaceTime habit and a fashion week trip are visible to the couple and almost invisible to everyone else. The doubts and the spark the source described come from the same few months, seen from two different seats.

Johnson and MGK have not addressed any of it. What they have done is keep showing up in the same places, from New York to Milan to a gold-trimmed bar in Los Angeles, with his hood up.
