Dalai Lama, 87, Apologizes for Kissing Young Boy and Asking Him to ‘Suck His Tongue’

‘He regrets the incident.’

The Dalai Lama has issued an apology for asking a young boy to kiss him on the lips at an event in his temple in February in Dharamshala, India.

Footage of the bizarre interaction between His Holiness and a minor boy has become viral on the internet. In the video, the Tibetan spiritual leader could be seen kissing him on the lips and then asking the child to suck his tongue.

In the video, the child asks Tenzin Gyatso if he can hug him, to which he responds: “Okay – come!”

Gyatso first asked the boy to kiss him on the cheek, then his lips. He also held the child’s face as the two kissed briefly before pressing their foreheads together.

Then the Tibetan Buddhist leader asked him, “And suck my tongue.”

While the boy did what he said, the audience could be heard laughing in the background of the video.

The footage caused a stir online, and many have branded the Dalai Lama as an immensely sick, disgusting individual and a Child predator.

“The Dalai Lama should be charged with Sexual Assault of a minor. Just because he is a religious leader he should not be immune from prosecution. No one should be allowed to get away with assaulting a child! He is a sick Child Predator!” one wrote.

“To the people on here defending the Dalai Lama’s actions – you clearly don’t know a predator when you see one. Your unwavering ignorance is part of the problem,” a second said.

“The Dalai Lama tells a reporter that president Donald Trump lacks moral principle. Meanwhile, he asks a little Indian boy to ‘suck his tongue’ Let that sink in,” a third commented.

“The Dalai Lama asked a little boy to suck his tongue and not one mainstream news outlet is asking what the heck is going on here. This is pedophilic, abusive and totally sick,” a fourth noted.

“This sick, disturbing video of the Dalai Lama making a child suck his tongue emerged months ago, but it has only just now made waves on social media—prompting the “holy” man to issue an apology. Why wasn’t it a problem for him before it went viral?” another commentator asked.

“The Dalai Lama is a pedophile. The child was assaulted. No sane person is okay with what he did to that child and the worst part is this happens to so many kids cuz y’all normalize predatory behavior in close family members,” said another.

“Before China invaded Tibet, 98% of the population were either slaves or indentured servants. The Dalai Lama owned 27 mansions and over 6 thousand slaves. He would gouge their eyes out if they disobeyed him. He is a pedophile, and Buddhism is a demonic religion,” someone said.

In the apology statement issued by the Dalai Lama’s Office, it has been claimed that ‘His Holiness regrets the incident.’

“His holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused.

“His holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident.” The statement read.

Many also exclaimed that the Buddhist leader should face charges of pedophilia after this.

“How kissing an underage boy is “playful”? Thats GROSS and the Dalai Lama should be accused of pedophilia. There are NO valid excuses to do that to ANY kid in the world, no matter “the culture” or religion. Watching that video made my stomach sick. STOP TOUCHING KIDS!!”

“Erm, it wasn’t just his words, but his paedophilic actions. Your note might pass as ok, if there wasn’t a video of this exact incident which is despicable on every level. Not sure what excuse you can make. Which man asks a child to suck his tongue other than a very sick one. It’s more of a confession if anything. I’d like to add that it has thrown a MASSIVE red flag and question mark over the behavior of the Dalia Lama if this is what he gets up to in public, I shudder to imagine, in private. Referring to him as “His Holiness” doesn’t forgive, but exacerbates.”

The Tibetan spiritual leader has been living in exile in India since 1959, when China annexed Tibet.

“The global spotlight he enjoyed after winning the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize has dimmed and the deluge of invitations to hobnob with world leaders and Hollywood stars has slowed, partly because the ageing leader has cut back on his punishing travel schedule, but also due to China’s growing economic and political clout,” per Daily Mail.

He’s also been accused of wanting to split China and was referred to as ‘wolf in a monk’s robe’.

In 2019, Gyatso apologized for saying if a woman were to succeed him, she should be more attractive.

The comment sparked a huge controversy, and the Dalai Lama was globally slammed for it.

“He was ‘deeply sorry’ and ‘genuinely meant no offence’ after his comment sparked a global backlash,” Quoted Daily Mail.

“The monk’s office said his ‘off-the-cuff remarks’ had ‘lost their humour in translation’, insisting he was a strong supporter of women’s rights.”

As reported by CNN, “The previous year, he suggested Europe should be kept for Europeans, when speaking about the rising level of African refugees entering the continent.”

“The whole Europe (will) eventually become Muslim country? Impossible. Or African country? Also impossible,” he said, adding that it’s better to “keep Europe for Europeans.”
