Demi Lovato has shut down engagement rumors with her musician boyfriend, Beau Jutes.
The pair started dating sometime in 2022 and went public with their romance in August 2022.
Earlier this week, Lovato, 30, took to her Instagram stories to shoot down engagement rumors and said if she had gotten engaged, she would have announced it.
“If I was engaged I’d announce it!!!!!” the Cool for the Summer singer wrote.
The pop star went on to gush over her beau and said he is her favorite person, and the two are indeed dating.
“I went to say favorite person and glitched and said boyfriend instead,” she continued. “Anyway, I’m still obsessed with @jutesmusic and he is both my favorite person and boyfriend!!!”
The clarification comes after the singer said she ‘got tired’ of using they/them pronouns and reverted to she/her pronouns.
Speaking in an interview with GQ Hype Spain, Demi said it was exhausting to explain her gender identity to other people constantly.
“I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” the “Cool for the Summer,” she told the publication.
“I just got tired. But for that very reason I know that it is important to continue spreading the word.”
The Heart Attack singer added that she wishes for more gender-neutral spaces for everyone.
“I face this every day. For example, in public toilets. Having to access the women’s bathroom, even though I don’t completely identify with it,” she said.
“Or it also happens when filling out forms, such as government documents or any other where you have to specify your gender. You only have two options, male and female, and I feel like none of that makes sense to me.”
The singer came as non-binary in May 2021.
“I want to take this moment to share something very personal with you,” Demi said in a video clip on Twitter at that time.
“Over the past year-and-a-half I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work, and through this work, I’ve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary.”
“With that said, I’ll be officially changing my pronouns to they/them. I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”
“I want to make it clear I’m still learning and coming into myself – I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson.”
However, last year in August, the singer reverted to she/her pronouns on Instagram and explained her reasons in an interview on the Spout Podcast.
“I’ve actually adopted the pronouns of she/her again with me. So for me, I’m such a fluid person that I don’t really and I don’t find that I am… I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced and my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said, women and men, I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman,” Lovato said.
“I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human. And that’s what they/them is about. For me, it’s just about like feeling human at your core.”
