Don’t Settle For Someone Who Doesn’t Give You Their Best

You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who threatens you with leaving whenever they don’t get their way.

You shouldn’t have to settle for the pain and the hurt that you are forced to bear on a daily basis because of this person. You shouldn’t have to settle for having to put up with the feeling like you could do better with someone else. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship with someone who just refuses to cater to your needs; someone who just seems virtually incapable of meeting you halfway. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who only ever gives you occasional glimpses of joy and fulfilment. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who doesn’t give you the kind of consistency and stability that you really need from a relationship. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who doesn’t give you the kind of strength that you need to sustain your love together. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who doesn’t give you their best especially when you’re giving your everything.

You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who is the cause of your many sleepless nights wherein you toss and turn thinking about the sad state of your relationship; thinking about what you could possibly do to make things better for yourselves. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who causes your soul to burn on a consistent basis. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who is the source of all of your emotional aches and bruises. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that seems like a perpetual series of unfortunate events. Yes, relationships aren’t designed to be easy. But they weren’t designed to be so difficult and complicated either. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who weighs you down emotionally and mentally. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that drains all of the emotional strength out of your system. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who makes you hate yourself; for someone who makes you question your own self-worth.

You shouldn’t have to settle for anything that you feel is beneath you; you shouldn’t have to settle for a mediocre love because love is and should never be anything mediocre.

You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who threatens you with leaving whenever they don’t get their way. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who you have to force to stay with you. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who you just don’t have any real emotional bond or chemistry with. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who forces you to shrink yourself so as not to serve as a threat to their own fragile egos. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who doesn’t give you the space and the freedom to let your own light shine. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who is intimidated by your strength. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who compels you to be less than you are just so you can be in a relationship together. Your relationship shouldn’t be holding you back and pushing you down; a real loving relationship should be one that lifts you up and motivates you to be the best version of yourself. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that leaves you feeling hopeless and dejected at the end of the day. You need to be in a relationship that actually has you excited about the future.

You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that makes you feel like you are undeserving of love. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who constantly makes you feel like you’re not good enough. You shouldn’t have to settle for someone who forces you to walk on eggshells. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that just feeds on your insecurities. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that exploits you; that uses and abuses you in ways that just can’t be good for you. You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship that makes you anything less than happy.

You shouldn’t have to settle for a relationship with someone who doesn’t give you their best. You need to be with a person who actually puts some thought into the dates that they take you out on. You need to be with a person who isn’t afraid to open up to you. You need to be with a person who really listens to you and pays attention to whatever it is you might have to say. You deserve to be with someone who is easy to talk to; someone who doesn’t shy away from deep and meaningful discussions with you.

Don’t settle. You should never have to settle for love. You have to fight for it. You have to hope for it. You have to dream for it. Love is not something that you should ever be settling for. It’s something that you continuously aspire to.
