Bindi Sue Irwin is an Australian TV personality, conservationist, actress, and zookeeper. She is the elder daughter of the late conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin and his conservationist wife, Terri Irwin – the owner of Australia Zoo.
Recently, Bindi the Jungle Girl actress shared a sweet photo of her with husband, Chandler Powell, and their dogs, Stella and piggy.
The photo was shared on the Instagram account of their two dogs. The caption of the photo read, “Getting into the Christmas spirit with @bindisueirwin and @chandlerpowell – Stella and Piggy.”
The family of four, minus their daughter, Grace, looked adorable together, and thousands liked the photo on Instagram.
While many people left adorable comments on the photo, complimenting the lovely couple and their cute dogs, many fans of the conservationist family also noticed a picture in the background with a sad history.
On the wall behind the married couple, one of the framed photos showed Steve Irwin posing alongside his beloved wife, Terri Irwin, and children, Bindi and Robert.
This was the last ever photo taken of the Australian zookeeper and fans couldn’t help noticing it.
The same photo was previously shared by Bindi on her Twitter in November 2015 with the caption, “The last photo as a family, before I had to wave goodbye to my hero, for the last time. Dad, I love you.”
In 2006, the world was shocked when Steve Irwin passed away. The news of Irwin’s death shocked fans all over the world. He was 44 years old when he passed away. 16 years after his death, Irwin remains one of the world’s most endearing and fascinating characters.
Bindi was just eight years old when her father, who rose to international fame with his Television documentary on wildlife called The Crocodile Hunter, died while shooting underwater with stingrays – he was shooting for his new underwater film called Ocean’s Deadliest.
The rest of the Irwin family made sure to keep Steve’s memory alive, and to this day, they work as passionate conservationists in Australia.
Since his tragic passing on November 15, 2006, this day is celebrated yearly as National Steve Irwin Day, and Australians join the Irwin family to pay tribute to the legendary zookeeper.
On his 16th death anniversary this year, Bindi posted a video of Steve on her Instagram and wrote, “November 15, #SteveIrwinDay. Join us by wearing your best khaki and celebrating the greatest Wildlife Warrior the world has ever known.”
In the video, the late environmentalist said, “Conservation is my whole life, my whole persona. What I want to be remembered for.”
And did he get what he wished for? Definitely yes.
