Reality TV star Farrah Abraham’s teenage daughter celebrated her 14th birthday by getting Facial piercings.
Taking to her TikTok and Instagram on Wednesday, Abraham posted a video of her daughter, Sophia getting facial piercings.
“HAPPY 14th Birthday!” she wrote in the caption along with several hashtags.
“#snakebite & #earlobe piercing party! 6 piercings later #snakebitepiercings you match your snake, can you even eat your cake?”
Farrah’s video received over 1880 comments on her video with mixed opinions from her fans.
“Y’all are wild thinking this is normal behavior between a mom and a 14 year old….all these piercings on her face are too much at 14,” one person commented.
“As if you need 1 more reasons not to be mother of the year,” added another.
“Why are we ok with this? I know I’ll cop a lot of hate for this but she’s 14! Yes piercings can close up and heal perfectly, but where is the line drawn?” one fan asked. “Where is the innocence of being 14 gone? Maybe I’m old school, maybe I’m wrong but I feel like by allowing our children to dictate to us what they do is removing any parental rights we have.”
The fan continued, “I’m all for supporting your children and guiding them accordingly.. but seriously – where is that line?! I’ve been a fan of yours Farah since day one but as a mum I can’t agree with your allowances and justifications with Sophia! I’m sorry.”
“My parents would of done justice if I got piercings at 14!! I had to wait till I was 18! And I thank them every day as an adult how strict they were,” another fan added sharing their own experience in the comment section.
Another angry fan wrote, “Dude, enjoy your little girl. Stop showing this behavior. Be a mother, for once. She’s only 14 instead of being her friend first… be her MOTHER. You have no boundaries for her. I can not believe the crap you allow. Why???? So she’ll like you or get along with you? So, just let her get away with this stuff? She used to be so adorable. I know it’s crazy to say about a child.. but it’s not her. You are her parent!!! It’s your responsibility to teach her right from wrong. I guess that’s not possible when YOU YOURSELF, FARRAH don’t even know right from wrong. Take your kids’ mental health seriously.”
“I don’t care abt piercings but it’s very concerning she isn’t in school. And don’t even say she’s homeschooled, we’ve all seen Farrah’s grammar. She needs socialized and educated asap,” another said.
Meanwhile, some other fans commented in the favor of the mother-daughter duo and said they can do whatever they like.
“So many teens had a goth phase and piercings aren’t permanent. Some of y’all are doing too much, let the girl express herself,” one said.
“I’m not the biggest Farah fan, but I will say one thing I can appreciate about her is she allows Sophia the freedom to express herself, alot of ppl say its too young however we were piercing each other’s belly buttons with safety pins in the bathroom at school at 13,” someone wrote.
“I don’t know why so many people hate on Sophia. She’s a child. Better than wearing revealing skimpy clothes and caked on makeup like a lot of girls her age are wearing,” wrote another.
The Teen Mom alum told TMZ that although she didn’t want Sophia to get the piercing, she allowed it because her daughter was insistent on getting one.
“To those who might feel it is inappropriate that my daughter got her nose professionally done, legally done, I’m all about being legal,” she told the outlet.
“We abided by the law. I am doing my best as a parent to make sure that she is healthy and happy, and I covered those bases. So congratulations to Sophia. I’m wishing her the best in her teen years, and if she wants to get more piercings, more power to her.”
The 31-year-old adult star and singer added that the new generation is very different from hers and nowadays, kids have a way of getting things done their way.
“I would rather it be by a professional, sanitized and clean, than my teen going, sneaking off and doing it herself and getting an infection,” she said.
