There are some stories we come across that greatly increase our faith in humanity and human beings working together to reach a happier and healthier life together. Today’s story is about four single mothers who beat the odds and traditions by buying a house together to live their best life.
Holly Harper is the queen of this story – she brought this amazing idea to fruition. She and her friends are from Washington, D.C., USA. They decided to change their lives by making lives easier for each other by just joining hands and becoming one strong force to be reckoned with.
Holly Harper was with her partner for 17 years; they separated in 2018. That’s when Holly decided not to let this slow her down. She used her strength and momentum to make something beautiful from her story. She always had a dream to live together with people in a community of love and acceptance – that’s when the idea of “The Siren House” popped up.
Holly Harper wrote her story on Insider and explained how it happened:
“When my marriage fell to pieces, I vowed to be open to unique opportunities.”
“Serendipitously, one of my closest friends shared my ‘commune dream,’ and she had separated from her husband around the same time I had.”
After finding the best single moms for her dream home, they became a team of super moms who found their home in one single day of searching. Holly wrote on Insider:
“We set our maximum budget together and then began the search. Our perfect-fit house was discovered on the first day of our search.”
According to Holly, this living arrangement saves her a whopping $30,000 a year. All of their kids share everything, from socks to iPads. There’s also a trampoline, a garden, and much more – there are no shortages of play areas in “The Siren House.”
She wrote on Insider about their children:
“…as moms, our children — ages 9, 9, 10, 11, and 13 — always come first.”
“This living arrangement is a kid paradise, complete with a giant trampoline, a parkour line, a garden, a gym, a big-screen TV, and a craft studio.”
And like their mothers, the children are also living their best lives together. Holly wrote:
“Our kids — who can use the buddy system for a walk to get gelato, and who have playmates during the quarantine and homeschool months — are thriving.”
“Not only that, they’re experiencing diverse perspectives on how people they love navigate real life.”
And about their plans and hopes for the future, Holly wrote a very beautiful statement:
“The goal of life is not to reach some plane of happiness, but to create an environment where we are safe to pursue happiness in every moment.”
We simply love Holly’s story and what she has achieved with her super mom besties! It’s been an actual learning experience for us, and we hope you learn something inspirational from this.
