Frozen Planet 2 Viewers were Left in tears as Sir David Attenborough Made ‘Urgent Final Plea’

Sir David Attenborough is a British broadcaster, biologist, national historian, and author best known for writing and presenting BBC Studios Natural History Unit.

The final episode of his nature documentary, Frozen Planet, was aired on BBC1 and left the viewers in tears.

As reported by the local news outlet, “The legendary naturalist and climate crisis campaigner Sir David, 96, made an impassioned plea directly to the camera in harrowing final scenes of the final episode of the landmark nature documentary series.”

The biologist addressed people and gave a touching message about the planet earth, excessive global warming, and the rapidly melting Arctic.

“Viewers learned of dying penguin populations, struggling polar bears and rapidly melting ice in a devastating episode showing the extent our actions have damaged the planet, particularly around the ice caps.”

At the end of the emotional episode, Sir David turned his face to the camera and said,

“If we can do something about it, then do it. We can do it. We must do it. Then there will be a future for the planet.”

The 96-year-old legend further added that although the bigger responsibility lies with the organizations and governments responsible for causing pollution in the environment, ordinary people also need to take ownership of their environment and work towards improving it.

“We’ve all got to do what we can, and what we can’t do ourselves, we must pressure those in charge to do,” he said on Sunday, October 16, during his show.

“If we can do something about it, then do it. We can do it. We must do it. Then there will be a future for the planet,” he added.

After listening to his heartbreaking plea, many viewers said that the message was so heartbreaking it made them cry and scared their kids.

“The kids have just watched the last of #frozenplanet2, and it has scared the s*** out of them, in a very, very good way!” one viewer said.

“To paraphrase David Attenborough at the end of #FrozenPlanet2, ‘right, I’ve done all I can. Over to you lot to either tackle climate change properly or deal with the mega-floods and vanished wildlife.’” Another commented.

“Just wept watching #FrozenPlanet2 – heartbreaking. Should be compulsory viewing for every single politician, leader and policy maker. As Sir David Attenborough said ‘We CAN do it. We MUST do it’. For the sake of our beautiful planet, we have to act NOW and all do our bit.” A third user added.

“The last few minutes of #FrozenPlanet2 didn’t offer any hope that we want to turn things around. There might be outrage for a few days, but the next climate protest & people will forget all about the melting ice caps, & instead be complaining about their journey being delayed,” said a fourth.

“Gosh that was the most memorable, beautiful, terrifying episode of #FrozenPlanet2 yet. We really have almost completely fucked up our home planet. I hope David Attenborough is right when he says, straight to camera, that we can still slow things down: ‘We can do it.’” A fifth penned.
