There is an unprecedented shortage of baby formula in the United States right now, and it’s starting to cause some serious panic among new parents. As any parent will know, a newborn is vastly reliant on baby formula, especially during the first few months of their life.
However, not many people are aware of the rising shortage, and there haven’t been many solutions to the problem currently plaguing so many parents and kids around the country. The general lack of proper information and resolution on the matter has prompted Kayzie Weedman to retreat to TikTok and spread the word on the issue.
A TikTok Mom
Kayzie Weedman (@momofrory on TikTok) currently has more than 56 thousand followers on the platform, where she talks about her life as a mother. However, her most viral video was where she talked about the baby formula shortage in the country and how it has impacted her child’s health. The video has already garnered more than 1.3 million views and continues to spread awareness on the issue every day.
In the video, Weedman addresses the fact that not enough people aren’t talking about the baby formula shortage and why this is a problem.
“Let’s talk about the formula shortage that is plaguing the US right now, because more people need to know about this. You go to your local Target, your local Walmart, and you think you’re going to get the formula your baby needs? Nope. Shelves are bare. And there are babies who can’t have just any formula that’s on the shelf.”
She also posted a picture of her infant daughter and the bad reaction her skin has had because of cow’s milk.
“I’m going to insert a picture of what my daughter looks like when she has cow’s milk because she has a huge cow’s milk protein allergy (see above image). So, what am I going to do when I go to the shelves and can’t get the formula that I need? The pharmacist who fills her prescription formula can’t fill it because they can’t get it — it’s back-ordered six months and I just have to sit there and stare at empty shelves and not know what I’m going to do next.”
A Very Important Issue
The Biden administration has been under fire as a result of their lack of a response to this prominent issue that’s compromising the health of infants around the country. In response to the increasing pressure from the media and from parents, White House press secretary Jen Psaki had this to say:
“Well, let me first say, as you know, but the FDA issued a recall to ensure that they’re meeting their obligation to protect the health of Americans, including babies, who of course were receiving or taking this formula and ensure safe products are available, that’s their job.”
She has also assured that the FDA is currently “working with major infant formula manufacturers to ensure they’re increasing production.”
What do you think about the government’s actions on this particular issue? Are they doing enough to serve new mothers and their infants? Comment your thoughts down below.

Has she tried her own milk? Just a thought.
There is only so long breast milk comes in and dries up quickly. Many women cannot breast feed their babies for many reasons. Some of us were blessed to be able to nurse all our babies, others are not. Just letting you know.
I grew up on Goats Milk and so did my sister!
Goats milk sometimes isn’t suitable for babies with cows milk alleriges as it still contains milk protein.
It’s not the governments fault… It was recalled due to an infant death… This solely falls on the manufacturer
What about your own milk , or soy milk , etc.
She might try goats milk or soy. My daughter had the same reaction to cow’s milk but once she was on soy milk it disappeared almost over night.
There is definitely a shortage on soy milk. I had to go to 20 different stores in 2 separate states before I gave up and opted to try cows milk. And before you ask I have underlying health issues that hinder me from breastfeeding
It would be highly unlikely that a baby can’t have its mothers milk. So why aren’t mothers breast feeding? That would avoid allergies, expense, and any type of supply shortage. But of course it’s not as convenient.
It’s not highly unlikely. Depends on mother’s health!!! I have epilepsy and take seizures medications so I am not able to breast feed my children because it would get into their system.
we are mammals. We feed our own offspring. No, this is not being savage, is being human. Why don’t humans feed their own children anymore?
Our government right now is a joke. He’s so busy making America weak to pay attention to what he’s doing. But hey he’s building back better right.
Gee to everyone saying why doesn’t she just nurse…
My best friend her son has pku it would literally cause him brain damage if he nursed..
I had cancer with a double mastectomy when I was 29 ..
There are all kinds of reasons why women don’t breastfeed feed..
And none of them are anyone’s business..
I just realized this post is a year old. Wow there’s another shortage right now and it is horrible
