Hilaria Baldwin says the Spanish Meaning of her Newborn Daughter’s Name is Same as Hers

The 38-year-old yoga instructor shared the meaning of her newborn baby girl’s name after facing backlash from the public regarding her Spanish name.

In a recently posted video on her Instagram, Alec Baldwin’s wife revealed that she and her daughter have similar names and the meaning of both is ‘Happy’ in Spanish.

“Dear Ilaria, Tonight you will be 6 days old, and if you ever read this, I want you to know how happy we are that you came into our lives,” the entrepreneur began her long caption.

“Our names mean ‘happy,’ and to share this connection with you feels like an honor to me.”

“We are exhausted, trying to juggle this transition…trying to be as good parents as possible to your siblings, trying to be as present and active as possible, while also trying to having compassion for my body that I just had a baby. It’s a hard balance and one that I don’t think I do very well, since it pulls at my heart in such a painful way when I feel I’m not giving enough to all my children. Mom guilt…it’s real.”

“Every mother knows how wonderful and hard it is to have a baby, and that we often feel that we’re never enough,” she continued. “And unfortunately, every mother knows we just have to suck it up and continue on. I want to do my very best to change it for all women, including you and your sisters.”

“I named you in honor of happiness and the mothers in our family who came before you. Our name means happy in all languages. A few letters different here and there…same meaning. Hija mía, sometimes we have to lean into happiness, choose the warm and supportive people, because there are so many, and dial down the negativity to absorb as little of it as possible.”

“May we live happy, Ilaria, and may our names always be a strong, feminist reminder. I love you always, mama,” she concluded.

Her post came a few days after Hilaria and her celebrity husband came under public criticism for giving a Spanish name to their newborn daughter.

Last week, the couple announced the birth of their seventh child, a baby girl – Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin.

“She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true, Ilaria Catalina Irena – 9-22-22, 6lbs 13oz.”

“Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home.”

“Much love to you all. We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful news with you,” Hilaria captioned her heartwarming Instagram reel.

The fitness enthusiast already shared six kids – Carmen, 9, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 5, Romeo, 4, Eduardo, 23 months, and Lucia, 18 months, with her celebrity husband, Alec Baldwin.

In March 2022, the Baldwins announced that they were expecting their seventh child together,

“After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting up and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall,” Hilaria wrote on her Instagram“We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we’re beyond happy with this surprise.

“Our new baby is a very bright spot in our lives. A blessing and a gift.”

According to Page Six, in April 2022, the couple joked about choosing an ‘all-American’ name for their newborn baby girl.

“Alec proposed the monikers ‘Babe Ruth or Chase Manhattan’ at the time. The pair’s joke referenced the backlash Hilaria faced in late 2020 when she was accused of cultural appropriation after claiming to be from Spain.”

Following the couple’s announcement of their daughter’s birth and name reveal on the internet, many people took to Twitter and criticized Hilaria, once again, for faking her Spanish identity.

“Hilaria Baldwin named her baby Ilaria. Her narcissism is on a patriarchal level. Always a groundbreaker, that woman,” a user account named as ‘Hilaria Baldwin’s Spanish Account, tweeted.

“I feel like we all moved on from Hilaria Baldwin faking her Spanish heritage way too quickly,” said another.

“Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have named their seventh child Ilaria. Which is kind of ilarious,” someone wrote.
