Chuck Norris is one of the most iconic names in Hollywood. He has starred in an enormous list of action movies and has starred alongside big names in the industry. Representing a career from the early 80s to the late 90s, he played the leading role in notable and memorable action movies during that time.
This story is about how this incredible actor paused his career when his wife, Gena O’Kelly, became sick. Being an incredible husband, he stood by her side and did everything to ensure his wife’s recovery.
The two met in 1997 and got married in 1998 – making it a marriage for the ages that spans more than 24 years. They share two beautiful children who are twins.
While there is no denying the couple’s sheer love and dedication for each other, Gena’s health started to decline when she went for an MRI in 2013. After the MRI, she felt a lot of pain in her nerves and kidneys. She suspected the reason for it being the contrasting agent, gadolinium, that was injected before the MRI.
While speaking to Hello, Gena said:
“Within hours after the first jab I felt like my whole body was on fire — as if acid had been passed through it. The burning was isolated at first, but it just kept spreading… I just lay in bed on an IV for five months and had to have round-the-clock nursing care. Chuck slept beside me on the couch and never left. I prayed that I would live to raise my children.”
Chuck Norris spent upwards of $2 million on his wife’s treatment after the MRI. He left his career and is now working on raising more awareness of the adverse effects of gadolinium.
According to Good Health, Chuck Norris spoke about the situation:
“I’ve given up my film career to concentrate on Gena, my whole life right now is about keeping her alive. I believe this issue is so important.”
Gena is now receiving stem cell treatment for her illnesses. She is also filing dozens of lawsuits alongside her husband against pharmaceuticals who don’t give enough information about these MRI IV injections.
We wish Gena a speedy recovery!

I commend Chuck Norris in being there for his wife Gena through her Illness. And I hope she gets better soon, and they win their Lawsuits.
I remember when I was getting an MRI the nurse stood in the corner with arrogance with the machine in his hand and pretended he didn’t read my own authority to have that stuff injected in me
I love Chuck This day watch all of his TV series God bless him for being there for his wife takes a man of which he definitely is God bless
Good for Him taking care of his wife.
