I Don’t Want A Relationship – Five Reasons Why I Choose to be Single

I don't want a relationship

There are many reasons I don’t want a relationship. I’m getting tired of explaining my single-ness to every person I meet. I mean, isn’t it possible for an adult to be perfectly young, happy, and thriving even in the absence of a relationship? Not a lot of people seem to understand where I’m coming from. Even less share my sentiment on the matter. Nevertheless, I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. However, I also acknowledge that there are those out there who are just like me but are incapable of articulating their feelings.

So, if you’re like me, you probably don’t want to be in a relationship. You must be so tired of having people ask you why you’re still single. It’s not like you go around asking people why they’re in relationships too, right? It’s as if it’s a given in this world that you should always be working towards getting into a relationship with someone. Well, we have to do away with that kind of thinking. It’s 2020, and it’s time to develop a new mindset: being single is okay. You shouldn’t have to be questioned for not being in a relationship.

And if you’re still confused, here are five reasons why I don’t want a relationship:

1. I’m Busy Pursuing My Dreams

Right now, I’m building a life for myself. I have many dreams that I want to accomplish. There are certain targets that I wish to be hitting. Unfortunately, love and romance will have to take a backseat because they aren’t priorities at the moment.

2. I Only Have Time for Myself

These days, I only really have time for myself. There are so many books I want to read. There are a ton of movies I want to see. There is a world out there that I want to explore. All of these things will be compromised if I start devoting most of my time to another person.

3. I Like to Keep My Life Drama-Free

I know that relationships can get messy, and they bring a lot of drama. Honestly, I don’t want that kind of drama in my life right now. As much as possible, I want to keep my life drama-free. So, if that means putting relationships off for a while, then so be it.

4. I’m Happy with My Family and Friends

They say that you need to be in a relationship to feel loved. But I already have so many friends and family who make me feel loved every day. These people mean so much to me, and they are more than enough to serve as motivation for me to get out of bed every morning.

5. I’ll Be in a Relationship When I’m Ready

Truthfully, I just don’t feel like I’ve met someone who makes me feel like I’m ready to be in a relationship. And I don’t want to force the issue with anyone. I know that when the time is right, then it’ll come. Until then, I’ll be perfectly fine with being single.
