I’m forever thankful for our love.
They say that love letters are so old fashioned these days. They say that there are newer, hipper, and more modern ways to express love and that we all must learn to get with the times in one way or another. But consider me old-fashioned. I still feel like love letters are one of the best ways a person could truly express one’s affection for another. So let me be my old-fashioned self just this once. Allow me to write you a love letter; a letter about just how thankful I am to have you in my life as my partner.
You are the man who always makes manages to make me realize the importance of my being. You never diminish my sense of self-worth. You are always lifting me up to where I need to be. You boost my confidence to levels that I could never reach on my own. You always validate my existence in this world even when you don’t need to. You are always there to nudge me forward whenever I start to doubt myself. I want to say thank you for always believing that I can be more than I am; that I can do more than I have ever done.
I want you to know just how thankful I am that you open yourself up to me on a daily basis even when it makes you uncomfortable. Thank you for always being the initiator in the relationship. Thank you for always being patient with me especially during my most vulnerable moments. I know I’m not always patient with you and so it makes me appreciate your patience even more. Thank you for taking that first step; thank you for taking that risk. Thank you for allowing yourself to fall in love with me even though it scared you to do so.
Thank you for always making me feel like I’m the most beautiful girl in the world. Thank you for always looking at me with eyes of passion; and making me feel like I’m the only girl in the room. Thank you for always expressing your affection to me through both words and gestures. Thank you for always being genuine and true to me; for never giving me any reason to doubt your sincerity. I want to thank you for always making me safe and secure in your warm embrace. Thank you for allowing your love to flow through your body and into my soul. Thank you for always promising to shield me from the harms of the world the best way that you can. But I also want you to know that I’m thankful for you giving me the freedom to make my own mistakes. Thank you for acknowledging me as a smart and mature individual who has to learn from her own shortcomings every once in a while. Thank you for leaving me alone whenever I ask you to. Thank you for never overstepping your boundaries and for always respecting my wishes. Thank you for allowing me to be who I’m comfortable with being even if it frustrates you sometimes. Thank you for being a true gentleman who always treats me like a queen even when I don’t deserve it. Thank you for being my knight in shining armor.
Thank you for accepting me for who I really am. Thank you for not just choosing to acknowledge the good parts. Thank you for loving my flaws and my imperfections. I know that I’m a handful a lot of the time. I know that I can be such a big burden. I know that I sometimes slow you down and that I can be a momentum breaker. That’s why it makes me just ever so grateful to know that you still choose to love me in spite of my flaws. I love how you still love me despite the fact that I never live up to your idealized expectations. Thank you for always being reasonable and understanding. Thank you, also, for pushing me to become the best possible version of myself. You should know that you inspire me every single day of my life to be a better person. You are always there to remind me of my best qualities. You are always there to serve as my moral compass and my guardian angel. Thank you for always pointing the way whenever I feel lost or confused. Thank you for always holding my hand whenever I feel scared or anxious.
But lastly, thank you for being you. Thank you for just being a constant presence in my life. I know just how lucky I am to have you. So consider this love letter as a validation of your prominence in my life. You are needed. You are loved. You are appreciated. Always.
