I Want To Be Your Favorite Hello And Hardest Goodbye

Ethan Collyer Ethan Collyer | September 19, 2017 | 4 min read

I want you to be able to feel okay with opening up to me about your deepest fears and your strongest anxieties.

I want to be the first person that you think of when you wake up in the morning. I want to be the one you send good morning texts to just to let me know that you were dreaming of me the night before. I want you to make me feel like I am the most important person in your life. I want you to assure me that our love is real and that you would never desert me for anyone or for anything else in this world. I want to be the one who brings light, joy, and color into your life. I want to be the person who can make you laugh even when you don’t want to smile. I want to be the person who makes you feel like all the struggles and hardships of life are going to be worth it. I want to be the person you look forward to seeing and coming home to at the end of a really long day. I want to be the person who you ask to take care of you whenever you’re sick. I want to be your favorite person to say hello to. I want to be the person you have the most difficult time saying goodbye to.

I want to be the person that you can feel comfortable being completely vulnerable with. I want you to be able to feel okay with opening up to me about your deepest fears and your strongest anxieties. I want you to be able to just talk to me about everything under the sun. I want you to tell me about your biggest dreams and your hopes for this world. I want you to tell me all about the plans that you have in life. I want to be the person you can count on to help pull you through whatever troubles you might be experiencing. I want to be the person who is standing at your side when everything is said and done. I want you to tell me about your innermost passions and your favorite interests. I want you to feel okay with telling me all about yourself because you trust me with absolutely anything. I want you to be able to confide in me because you know that I am your safety net. I want to be your security blanket. I want to the be the person whom you can always count on in this world.

I want to be the person that you bring home to meet your parents. I want to be someone that you can really be proud of. I want to be the one all of your friends say is perfect for you. I want to be able to give you the kind of life and love that you deserve. I want to be the person who pushes you to achieve everything that you want in life. I want to be the person who can challenge you to become a better human being. I want to be your inspiration to become the best possible version of yourself. I want to be able to motivate you to always pursue greatness and to never settle for mediocrity. I want to be the person whose hand you can hold whenever you are feeling frightened or scared. I want to be the person whose embrace you run to whenever you are seeking comfort and reassurance. I want to be the person with whom you can be completely honest. I want to be the person you could never imagine living without.

But ultimately, I just want to be the love of your life. I want to be the recipient of all of the love and affection that you have to give. I want to be the reason that you never feel lonely or sad ever again in your life. I want to help you find a sense of completion, meaning, and fulfillment in your life. I want to be the one who holds the key to your heart. I want to be the person who you can trust to never betray you or hurt you. I want to be the person who you can always believe to stand up for you whenever anyone tries to get in your way. I want to be your teammate for life. I want to be the one who you can tag in whenever you feel like you need to take a rest. I want to be the person you can envision having children and building a life with. I want to be the person who you end up writing marriage vows for. I want to be the one who grows old with you. I want to be the one who gets to spend the rest of our remaining days together by each other’s side.
