Gentleman alert!
Chivalry is not dead. It’s out there. We just have to have the patience to look for it. And once we do find it, we must do everything in our power to never let it go. The modern gentleman still exists. We have to believe that they still exist. They may not look the part of a traditional knight, but they still carry the chivalrous principles that the knights of romantic history use to never compromise. It’s a complete rarity these days, however, for a man to be a genuine gentleman. It’s so difficult to find a real man who carries proper manners and practices appropriate decorum every single time. But that doesn’t mean that you have to lower your standards. That doesn’t mean that you have to just settle for a man who doesn’t treat you well and who doesn’t know how to respect you. You have to be able to trust that the perfect gentleman is out there waiting for you, and you just need to know what you’re looking for.
And once you do manage to get a real gentleman to fall in love with you, then you have to be sure that you try your best to never let him go. He is a rarity. He is a gem. He has to be treasured and he has to be appreciated. And the best thing about being with a real gentleman, he will make it easy for you to love him. He will make it easy for the relationship to last. And so you don’t really have to worry. So how do you know to spot a proper gentleman? Well, here are a few indications:
1. He always waits for your order to arrive before he starts digging in.
It may seem like a very simple thing, but it’s a very big indicator of his manners and his demeanor towards treating women in general. If he waits for your food to arrive before he starts eating himself, it’s because he wouldn’t want to make you feel left out and that he’s taking your feelings into consideration.
2. He genuinely asks you about how your day went.
He doesn’t ask about your day just to be nice. He asks you about your day because he genuinely wants to get a good picture of what a typical day in your life would look like. He wants to get to know you and the only way to do that would be to ask you these questions.
3. He will really make time to be with you.
He isn’t the type of guy who would just want to spend an hour with you and immediately be done with it. He will spend time with you just to let you know that you’re actually a person who is worth his time.
4. He makes it a point to actually listen to what you’re saying.
When he communicates with you, he doesn’t make it all about himself. Whenever you talk to him, he’s just not waiting for you to finish so that it can be his turn to reply. Whenever you start talking, he is genuinely paying attention to you. He is sincerely listening to you so that he can learn more about who you are.
5. He makes it seem like he’s trying his best to make a good impression on you.
If he’s looking like he’s trying hard, then it’s probably because he is. A true gentleman would never try to just play it cool and act like he doesn’t care. He wants to put in the effort to making a good impression on you because your opinion matters to him.
6. He insists on taking care of the bill.
Of course, you are a strong and independent woman. You are perfectly capable of paying for yourself. In fact, you would probably even want to split the bill in the spirit of fairness. But there’s still something endearing in adhering to the tradition of a man insisting to pay for a date.
7. He makes sure that you get home safely.
It’s not like when the date is over, his role is done. He still wants to make sure that you actually get home safely. A true gentleman would drive you home or walk home with you. Or at the very least, he would walk you to an Uber and ask you to text him the moment you get home.
8. He makes you feel like he had a good time.
If he enjoyed his time with you, he will always be sure to let you know about it. He won’t try to play it cool and act like the experience didn’t affect him much. A true gentleman will be completely honest and transparent about his emotions.
9. He will tell you that he looks forward to seeing you again.
A true gentleman will always give you closure. He won’t leave you feeling anxious about whether you’re going to see him again. He will always make sure to let you know that he intends on going on more dates with you.
