If You Find Yourself In Any Of These 10 Relationship Situations, You Should Leave
#3. You are in a relationship where your partner keeps you a secret to the world.
A lot of times, when we get caught in bad relationships, we are left with an internal struggle. We are forced to reexamine what we really want out of the relationship. We have to decide whether the relationship is still something worth saving and fighting for or if it’s just one of those scenarios where it’s better to just walk away. We are always taught that we have to fight hard for the things we want the most, but sometimes, we also have to know when we should just walk away.
While it can be difficult to just give general advice to relationships that carry very specific and intimate details, there are just some universal principles in this matter that everyone should know about. If you manage to find yourself in a relationship with these kinds of characteristics, then perhaps you should seriously consider just walking away from it all.
1. You are in a relationship where you are always second-guessing yourself.
You should never feel insecure about who you are when you are in a relationship. The best and most successful kinds of relationships are the one wherein partners lift each other up and build each other’s confidence. You should never have to second-guess your character in a healthy relationship with someone. Your partner should be giving you lots of confidence and joy.
2. You are in a relationship where you are still competing with an ex.
You don’t ever want to be in competition with an ex. When you get into a relationship with someone, you have to make sure that that person is completely over any previous relationships. You don’t want to be with someone who is still hung over someone else. You don’t deserve that at all. You only deserve to be with a person whose feelings are fully devoted to you.
3. You are in a relationship where your partner keeps you a secret to the world.
You don’t deserve to be anyone’s secret. Why would you ever want to be in a relationship with someone who is ashamed to show you off to the world? You should never agree to merely being someone’s secret relationship partner. Don’t lose your dignity and always recognize your self-worth.
4. You are in a relationship where promises are constantly broken.
Relationships are built on trust. The only way for people to establish trust with each other is if promises are always fulfilled. Once you fail to fulfill a promise to someone, then you are essentially betraying that person’s trust in you. Only the most unhealthy and toxic kinds of relationships aren’t built on a solid foundation of trust.
5. You are in a relationship with someone who is still playing the field.
Along with trust, every successful relationship must have a semblance of commitment between the people involved. In life, in order any human endeavor to become special, one must always commit to the task at hand. So it makes sense that the best kinds of relationships have couples who are deeply committed to each other and to making the union work.– Continue reading on the next page
6. You are in a relationship with someone who refuses to apologize or acknowledge mistakes.
While pride is good on some levels, it can also destroy many relationships. When a person is too proud and self-centered to never acknowledge faults and mistakes, then that is a sign of immaturity. There is no way a relationship can possibly survive when one of the people involved is immature. A person who isn’t mature enough to own up to mistakes is also not mature enough to be in a relationship.
7. You are in a relationship wherein you are constantly demeaned and insulted.
There should be no room for senseless criticism and character assassinations in any relationship. When you are in a loving relationship with someone, you should be trying your best to push each other to become the best possible versions of yourselves. You shouldn’t be tearing each other down.
8. You are in a relationship with someone who always threatens you with breakups.
Ultimatums are never a good idea. If you are in a relationship with someone who uses ultimatums or threats as a way to fix problems, then you should get out of the relationship immediately. These are very immature ways to go about fixing problems. Arguments and disagreements can only be fixed with open and honest communication between the two partners.
9. You are in a relationship with someone who only treats you nice when other people are there to witness it.
What matters most is not how other people see your relationship, but how you feel about the relationship from the inside. A lot of times, you will project a very good image as a couple to the people around you even when it’s very different on the inside. You should only be in a relationship with someone who treats you great whether or not you’re in public or when you’re alone.
10. You are in a relationship where you feel very closed off and isolated.
The point in getting into a relationship is manifesting your love and affections for another person into a union. What kind of relationship would that be if you still feel constantly alone and isolated? Would that still even be considered a relationship? Just walk away. You’re better off alone.
