The British actor, singer, and TV host has been given a second chance after he profusely apologized to a New York-based restaurant owner for his rude behavior with the hotel staff.
As reported by the Daily Mail, “Fiery Briton Keith McNally barred the star from Balthazar in SoHo, Manhattan, because of his treatment of servers, branding him: ‘The most abusive customer since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.'”
“In a series of extraordinary Instagram posts, Mr. McNally shared two reports from his managers accusing Corden, who earns $36million a year as host of the Late Late Show, of being ‘extremely nasty’ to staff.”
In June 2022, the comedian visited the Balthazar restaurant and found a hair in his meal. When the hotel staff and management apologized to the TV show host for their negligence, he said,
“Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I [won’t] write any nasty reviews on yelp or anything like that.”
According to Keith McNally, Corden showed up at the restaurant nine days ago and came with his wife this time.
McNally said they spotted a little bit of egg white in her egg yolk omelette, and all hell broke loose.
The restaurant owner alleged the comedian for crazy, yelling at the servers and the rest of the hotel staff when they served him a new omelette with fries instead of salad.
“You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself”.
Keith said that the agitated couple received a free glass of Champagne and several apologies from the staff and management; however, they remained shaken.
A few days after the incident, the restaurant owner took to his Instagram, detailed the entire event in his post, slammed the comedian for his extremely rude behavior, and called him an abusive customer.
“James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago. I don’t often 86 a customer, to today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh,” Keith wrote to his 90K followers on Instagram.
After his post went viral, netizens started calling out Corden for his outrage and demanded he should apologize to the servers for his aggressive behavior.
Yesterday, McNally posted an update on the issue and let everyone know that the Late Late Show host called him over the phone and apologized ‘profusely.’
“Having fucked up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances. So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for 9 months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar,” he wrote in his new Instagram post.
“No, of course not. But….anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar. So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx
According to Page Six, McNally said he was reluctant to slam James publicly but did so “out of loyalty to restaurant servers everywhere.”
“Their jobs are hard enough already. They shouldn’t have to take this kind of abuse from anyone, especially the rich and famous,” he told the outlet.
