Jamie Foxx Details Going Through ‘Hell and Back’ Amid Hospitalization

Jamie Foxx has spoken out for the first time since his mysterious hospitalization in April.

The 55-year-old Oscar winner fought back tears as he told fans he went through hell and back amid his hospitalization and said he is not blind or paralyzed and doing okay now.

“I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said in his 3-minute-long Instagram video, adding that he’s not “blind” or “paralyzed.”

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that, man,” he admitted with tears in his eyes. “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie or a television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The Ray actor didn’t reveal his illness but informed his 16 million Instagram followers that he is on the ‘road to recovery.’

While praising his sister Deondra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx, 29, he said,

“To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video. I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight — they didn’t let nothing out, they protected me — and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these. But, I’m coming back, and I am able to work.”

“I just want to say I love everybody, and I love all the love that I got,” he said.

According to reports, Jamie Foxx was rushed to the hospital on April 18 after a medical emergency, the details of which have not been disclosed. However, the family of the Django Unchained star has confirmed that he is now making a recovery and has received great care.

In a statement on Instagram, Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, expressed gratitude for the support and well-wishes from fans. She wrote, “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.”

TMZ reported that the incident was a medical emergency. However, Foxx has not yet made a detailed comment on the matter, and his family has not provided further details on how he ended up hospitalized.

The news site said, “We’re told his condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family – some of whom were not in town – came to the hospital. One source told us, ‘He’s communicating now, and that’s good news’.”

Foxx, who won an Oscar in 2004 for his role as blind singer Ray Charles in Ray, has had a successful career, appearing in movies such as Jarhead, Django Unchained, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The 55-year-old is filming for his latest movie, Back In Action, in Atlanta. The movie will reunite him with Cameron Diaz, who starred alongside him in 2014’s Annie.

Later a source claimed to Radar Online, that although Jamie’s condition was stable and he was doing better, doctors were still trying to get to the bottom of his situation. He wouldn’t still be admitted to the hospital if he was ‘completely OK.’

“Jamie’s people are saying he’s doing OK and improving, while doctors try to get to the bottom of his problems — but he wouldn’t be in a hospital this long if he was anything close to OK,” the source told Radar.

According to the outlet, a source previously said that Foxx’s condition was so critical that he wouldn’t have survived if he didn’t receive proper medical treatment on time.

“It was touch and go for days with him, and he had to be revived. He is very lucky to be alive!” the source said, adding the star was saved by the emergency room physicians.

“He’s very lucky he got the treatment he did,” the source added. Another source said the hard-working Jamie suffers from high blood pressure, which experts said can cause clots in the brain and lead to a stroke. One source said the actor’s health crisis was “a long time coming.”

However, the claims were denied by his daughter, Corinne who said her father had been out of the hospital for weeks.

Taking to her Instagram stories in May, the Day Shift actor’s elder daughter, Corinne, updated fans that her star dad has been out of the hospital for weeks and media is running wild reports about his health condition.

“Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild,” the 29-year-old wrote alongside a media report that claimed his family is ‘preparing for the worst.’

“My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”
