Katie Holmes and Jason Bard Yarmosky Enjoy Red Carpet Date Night

Katie Holmes and her boyfriend, artist Jason Bard Yarmosky, walked the red carpet together at the American Ballet Theatre fall gala on October 29. Hands held. E! Online reported that the pair posed for photos at New York City’s Lincoln Center, at an evening honoring Cynthia Erivo.

Katie Holmes and Jason Bard Yarmosky’s Red Carpet Moment

Holmes, 47, wore a silky, long-sleeved dark green gown with a drop-waist, her hair pulled back in a bun. Dangling earrings. A black bag. NOTHING else competing for attention.

Yarmosky went darker. According to E! Online, he wore a double-breasted suit over a black shirt, a look that sat right next to hers without trying to match it.

Matching was their opening move, though. The couple first sparked romance rumors in July, when Holmes stepped out hand-in-hand with Yarmosky at a screening of Olivia Wilde’s The Invite in the Hamptons. Less than a week later they made it official at a Ferragamo event. Both in navy. Asked about the coordinated outfits at the time, Holmes told Elle the two simply have similar taste.

Four months on, the gala photos show two people who no longer need a matching color to look like a couple.

What Their Appearance Says About Modern Relationships

Yarmosky hard-launched the romance on Instagram in August, and Holmes followed with a photo of the two of them in an embrace at his 39th birthday party, with a caption calling him the best of the best.

Order matters there. He posted first. She answered.

Plenty of couples treat the first public post as a test of where the other person stands. Who goes first. How much they show. Whether the caption is a joke or a declaration. Holmes went with a declaration, tagging his account in a birthday message for anyone scrolling past to read.

Katie Holmes is not someone who posts lightly. She has been famous since her Dawson’s Creek years, and her personal life has drawn heavy attention for decades, including her marriage to Tom Cruise. Choosing to put a new boyfriend on her own feed carries more weight from someone with that history than from someone who shares every coffee order.

The Significance of Public Displays of Affection

Holmes talked about that history directly in a 2022 interview with InStyle. As a public person, she said, she had gotten a lot of attention at different points in her life, and sometimes it was enough to make her not want to leave the house. People can get consumed by what others think, she explained. Then “suddenly you just decide to do things on your own terms.”

Hand-holding on a Lincoln Center carpet fits that description.

Public affection gets dismissed as performance. Sometimes it is. But Holmes once told InStyle that attention could make her not want to leave the house, and now she walks into a gala and reaches for someone’s hand in front of the photographers. Her terms. She picks the event, the night, and the person beside her. The cameras get what she gives them.

Yarmosky’s part in this is quieter and just as telling. An artist, not an actor. He stood next to her in a dark suit and let the green gown carry the photos. Partners of very public people often have to decide how visible they want to be. So far he has posted about her, celebrated a birthday with her on camera, and now walked a red carpet in step with her.

From a July screening in the Hamptons to a Ferragamo launch, an August Instagram post, and a ballet gala in late October, the timeline is short and steady, each step a little more public than the last. Every one came from the couple themselves.

Neither Katie Holmes nor Yarmosky has said anything about what comes next.

For now, there are the photos from October 29. Her in green. Him in black. Their hands joined between them.
