Keanu Reeves Pays Emotional Tribute to John Wick Costar Lance Reddick

Keanu Reeves is mourning the loss of his John Wick costar, who passed away on Friday, March 17.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends,” Reeves said in his statement to Variety.

According to reports, the American actor passed away of natural causes.

“We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly,” said Keanu.

The star’s death occurred before the release of his fourth John Wick film, in which he plays the role of concierge Charon.

John Wick 4 is set to be released in the theatres on March 24.

According to TMZ, “He was found dead at his Studio City home in Los Angeles Friday morning.”

David Simon, the creative director of The Wire, also paid tribute to the late actor in his statement and said,

“He was a consummate professional, a devoted collaborator, a lovely soul, and a friend. This is just gutting and way, way, way too soon for any of us who knew and loved him to contemplate.”

The sad news comes only one day after Lance posted a happy photo of him all smiles with his three dogs at home in a promotional post for Hard Rock Hotels on National Puppy Day on Instagram.

“On screen and off, it’s no surprise I love spoiling my dogs,” he wrote in the caption.

Reddick was also due to attend the premiere of John Wick 4 along with his costar, Keanu Reeves, but he failed to turn up – the actor did not explain his absence from the premiere.

“Total shock and disbelief. Lance was a wonderful human being and a wonderful colleague. My deepest condolences, peace, and love to his wife, Stephanie, and all his family,” said Ian McShane, who plays the role of Mr. Winston in the action thriller.

The Wire actor Wendell Pierce also paid tribute to his longtime friend and costar, Lance, and wrote,

“A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP.”
