Keith Urban Quits ‘The Voice Australia’ to Support wife Nicole Kidman Amid Health Concerns of her Aging Mom

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been together for more than 16 years and make one of the most adorable couples in Hollywood.

The duo first met at G’Day USA Gala, and the Big Little Lies actress was instantly smitten with the musician.

According to Us Weekly, “it was an event honoring Australians in Los Angeles — in 2005. While Nicole was immediately smitten with the country singer, Urban took a little longer to come around.”

In 2017, the actress appeared on The Ellen Show and revealed that Keith didn’t call her for the next four months after their first encounter.

“I remember thinking I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.”

Later, the singer and songwriter spoke on an Australian talk show, Interview, in 2018 and said he wasn’t up for a relationship then.

“Somebody had given me her number, and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it, thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say,’ I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life.”

“I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers, and she answered, and we started talking, and we talked and talked and talked and talked, and it was effortless,” he said.

When their relationship finally began in late 2005, they fell hard for each other and married within a year.

However, a few months after their wedding, Keith fell victim to addiction and went to rehab.

“I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage,” he told Rolling Stone in 2016. “It survived, but it’s a miracle it did. I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”

Nicole and Keith are parents to their two daughters – Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Meanwhile, Kidman is also the doting mother of daughter Isabella and son Conner whom she adopted with ex-husband, Tom Cruise.

Recently, the Aussie musician announced that he was leaving ‘The Voice Australia’ because he wants to be with his beloved wife and her aging parents.

According to Daily Telegraph, Urban quit the reality TV show that he’s been a part of for the last ten years mainly because Kidman needs him as her mom’s health is deteriorating.

Keith joined The Voice in 2011 as a judge along with international artists Seal, Joel Madden, and Delta Goodrem. The first episode of the show premiered in 2012.

The Country singer has been a judge on the show during its first, tenth, and eleventh seasons.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Somebody Like You singer has decided to slow down his career amid health concerns of his mom and Nicole’s mother, both above 80.

Keith has decided to tour Australia rather than going on a world tour for his album, The Speed of Now, released in 2020.

“I actually don’t think of it as the end of a chapter at all because I love doing the show. I feel very close to everybody on the set and hopefully, the door can stay open because I would jump back in a heartbeat,” he said.

In his interview with The Daily Telegraph, the reality show judge said,

“My mum just turned 80, and Nic’s mom, who knows how many Christmases we get with anybody ever but particularly with our moms, I really cherish that chance to spend Chrissy with them and our family in Aus.”

“Having the kids in there is great, but the extended family as well because we don’t have any family in Nashville so it is incredible to have all of the cousins and aunts and uncles and everybody, it is just amazing.”
